I wonder if any team in the group B wants to face Switzerland in the quartefinals? Is that still an advantage?

As a fan of Slovakia / USA / Russia / Sweden, do you want your team to play against Switzerland to "easily" move to the semifinals?

What are the alternatives?

Anyways, I would rather face Canada, and get over with it.

I hope my swedish team play them in quarters. You know what? I know that the swiss has done amazing, but the truth is that sometime further down the tournament, the miracles will be out for the swiss, so I rather take them than an angry Czech rep team that is out for revenge.

Yepp. It won't be easy, but rather the Swiss than any big 7 team.

the czech rep always kill the swedes. For some reason, we always have trouble with them.

Me too. Gimme Switzerland! We'd go through to the semi's, plus the Americans would finally learn that Sweden is not the capital of Switzerland (or was it the other way around???) :sarcasm: :shakehead

Yepp. But this time we won't play them. The Czechs will probably end 4th, meaning that they play the winner of our group - some reward, eh - and that will not be us.

ugh i hope not. I hate to say it, but I hope we WONT finnish 1st.

however if beat usa and slovakia we're probably going to be first since we get the tiebreaker vs the slovaks :shakehead

This Swiss team is reminding me of Greece at Euro2004.

Nobody knew anything about either team before the tournament, but both teams were absolute giant killers throughout the tournament. They focused primarily on defensive tactics and stellar netminding. It's far to early to proclaim Switzerland as the new Greece, but the fact that teams are somewhat afraid to face them is quite interesting.

The Swiss have had 2 great games, though outplayed they got great goaltending and seem ready to go the the quarters.

But, relax everyone, this isn't some seizmic shift in the hockey landscape. Whoever draws the Swiss will be getting the weakest quarter-final opponent. So yeah, everybody want to face the Swiss.

Way to go Swiss! Hope you win it all! :handclap:

Doubt they have a chance, to win against topteams before the quarterfinals is impressive but the really good teams is going to step it up one notch when the really important games start.

Actually NHL officials are so concerned with injuries right now, that they might stop the tournament right now and award the medals! :D

I know it isn't the capital its the second largest city. Everyone knows that. :)

Round robin wins are one thing, but the swiss have yet to show they can win when it really counts. There's no way any Group B teams would prefer to face any of the "Big 7" instead of the Swiss, no matter how well they seem to be playing right now.

I'm pretty sure Sweden, America, Slovakia, and Russia would all rather play Switzerland over the Czech Republic, Canada, or Finland.

Despite the scores, the Swiss were outplayed in both games by a fair margin.

There is no way I'd want Russia to play the Swiss.
Most important reason - this team has had enough dirt piled on it.. it would be ok to lose to Canada, but losing to Swiss would mean that heads would roll, and the Russian team needs stability more than anything, IMO.

Besides, a win feels better when you play against the best, so bring them on!

Switzerland would also be a very uncomfortable opponent for Russia, I think... Disciplined hard-working little beasts, they are :)
