Speculation: Who should be the Captain

As it seems that Landy might not make to ice ever again or is just not in playing condition for a long time I wanna speculate a bit who should wear the C in Avs.

Mack: In my opinion his effort is legendary, but whenever stuff is not going his way his just not a guy who can contrate on everyone else. His just too selfish.

Makar: Very good on ice talent wise, but would I consider him a leader of the locker room, maybe not. He doesnt have Macks attitude problem, but is just too soft. He is giving interviews so thats a non issue for him.

Rantanen: Maybe not the most popular opinion at the moment because of the contract speculations, but I think he has all the attributes of being a Captain. He has the on-ice contribution scoring wise and isnt affraid to lay a hit. His gives zero f***s to telling his mind to own players without coming out being mean. He is communicating well to press and isnt afraid to give interviews. Also he is already wearing A. From all the players in the team in my opinion he has the least negatives.

Anyone else: If your not contributing scoring wise you would need to do something else big time and there just is anyone else being a superstar in any other aspect in my mind.

Landy: If he comes back then yeah its him, but we need on ice C now.

MacKinnon: Probably the most likely case. When he's on, the whole team naturally follows him. The issue is he doesn't seem level headed in a way that made Landeskog so valuable as a captain. You want the team to resemble their captain, so there are worse choices than MacK, but it's not great. Also, he is exactly the most high-effort player defensively, so that's another mark against him as captain.

Makar: My choice by quite a margin. He's level-headed, smart and I think the C would encourage him to speak up more and take a more active leadership role on the team. he also plays hard in every situation and elevates him game in the big moments.

Rantanen: Definitely not level headed. Barks at the refs tons. Also tons of examples of low effort plays from him in almost every game, whether it's offsides, losing puck battles, back checking, defensive coverage. Yes, he's big and plays physical and scores a lot, but to me he's the closest to losing his A, not gaining the C.

Toews: A good dark horse candidate. Also plays hard in every situation. Very smart. And we've already heard about him calling out his teammates for poor defensive play. It would be very interesting to see him named captain ahead of the superstars.

Someone else: Not really any good choices. I think the captain has got to be a top player on the team, or a respected veteran. So it's between the guys above, Nuke, and Calvin de Haan I guess.

Wait for Landy: I was all on board for this, but you can always announce he'll get the C back if he returns. This team desperately needs leadership now, not later.

IMO, they can wait this season for Landy to come back. If his return doesn't seem very probable early next season, Makar is the best choice. And it's probably LOC next in the line, who would already be a significantly worse option.

Kind of shows you, how much the team misses (Landy's) leadership, so I voted for "Wait Landy" in this moment.
