Who is currently the worst skater in the NHL?

Not sure about his speed, but from the little I've seen of him, Alexei Protas stands out as a forward with very poor agility. But then again, he's 6'6" and still developing, so no wonder.

In terms of speed (or lack thereof) Nick Bonino and Patrick Maroon are certainly in the conversation amongst forwards.

Most defensemen skate better than people give them credit for. They are generally better skaters than forwards, techniecally speaking, while forwards are generally faster.

Good question. I watch a lot of Tampa Bay, and Cal Foote's stride looks like a poorly assembled robot. He does have a good shot and some tenacity though. I would vote Foote for rating the players I regularly watch.

Ryan Reaves has to be up there if not the answer.

He was always a choppy, lumbering skater but at least had some speed. Now 35 with a lot of miles on him, he looks like if an HFBoard poster tried keeping up in the NHL lots of times, especially if he has to make a tight turn and pivot real quick.

Zack Kassian absolutely has to be up there. Watched him get caught in breakaway when the guy behind him was basically at the other blueline

honestly that dude moves for his size. you're right that he's not done cooking yet but the strides he's made from last season to this one are ridiculous and there might be another gear there

Boeser’s first few strides are horrendous

He’ll take a breakout pass at the hashes in his own zone. The forcheckers beneath the goal line will catch him and turn it over 95% of the time.

Honestly, it's Pat Maroon. Great glue guy, but he's the slowest guy I've seen in the NHL, not to mention his lack of agility.

Some of the other names (Kassian, Gudbranson, etc.) don't make sense. They're not actually bad skaters. They're just not good.

I can't imagine Perry has improved since his time in Dallas and he skated like he was wearing an open parachute back then.

Ryan Suter is my current pick. He is really slow and being lazy doesn't help. The guy sucks at everything.
