Who is better in their prime....Marner or Patrick Kane?

I went with 7 years in and in his 7th year Marner had 99 points and Kane had 69 points but didn't really hit his prime until 2018/2019 season where he put up 110 points. This is Marners 9th season and he has 677 points. In Kanes 9th season he had 663 points.
Thoughts?

There were rule and equipment changes back when MM was up for contract. The best players saw a 20% uptick in pts production. Nobody bothers to acknowledge it ever happened though.

Big reason Kane doesn't have similar numbers

If you look at just points, then the guy playing with the best goal scorer might seem to have a small edge, but if you look at overall impact there's really no comparison.

I’d argue kane overall period I see your trying to find a win for marner here but it isn’t even close tbh
Unless he levels up, all he needs is a double weight puck and the drive. But his shot not being scary relaxes coverage. With his passing game he could draw them in more and pass by him or rip a shot on the net. Not just pass. So it's possible but not probably.

I wonder about Kariya or Mogilny myself?

But Kariya played with Selanne so ...

Kane and marner play different games.

That was the comparable when he entered the league but I can agree marner is the better 200ft player Kane was just the better player period

Kane’s prime started in early 2010s and his peak was 2015-16. 106 points while no one else reached 90 and 2nd in goals. 50 points in 37 elimination games which is the most of any active player as far as I know. There’re not comparable as of yet.

Marner is only in his 9th season. Lots of hockey left. Oilers used to choke a lot before they finally broke through. I'm sticking with Marner.

Selanne was fantastic, not sure how much helped Kariya in 95-96 though. :)

Some people try so hard, I almost admire the effort. Almost.
