Which prospects are you most excited about?

For me, it's Fraser Minten. I probably have more faith in him and his game than most, but I can see him becoming a high end 3C or serviceable 2C with the right players flanking him. I am hoping for at least a Christian Dvorak.

Isn't he more of a long term project?

Is Knies still considered a prospect since he's already made the team?

Outside of the obvious ones (Knies/Niemela), I'm really excited and hopeful for big years from Moldenhauer and Grebyonkin.

I'm going to take Knies (stud), Woll (older, but my hopes are high for him) and the latest picks (so much volatility, always interesting to see how their D1s go) out of the equation and say these 3 in order of how excited (interested) in seeing how they develop this upcoming season:

Grebyonkin - real impressive last year, can he keep it up? If he does he might just be that late homerun every team hopes to find.

Voit - Monster year offensively in the OHL, but there's concerns about his size/strength. How does he transition to pro hockey.

Minten - 1st rounder with a bit of a disappointing D1 for me. Can he take charge and thrive in an expanded role with top guys on his team from last year moving on to pro hockey.

Yeah, I'd say so. He plays a pretty safe game that would translate well into a bottom 6 role if you wanted him to do that. If you want more offensive production, more time to season in the WHL and perhaps AHL might do him well.

Excited about might be the wrong phrase, but "most intrigued", Robertson. Can he stay healthy, can he be a factor?

Nick Robertson starting to show his potential would be massive for this team. Because his potential is a 20-30 goal scorer in the NHL, if not more if he really finds how to use his shot in the NHL.

It would basically mean he plays in the top 6 at LW and our 2nd PP and boosts that. Suddenly if Knies is as good as he showed, you have 4 LW who can arguably be in the top 6 and some tough decisions to make. Have to think Bertuzzi plays in the top 6 100%, so do they reunite Knies - Matthews - Marner and put Bert with Tavares?

Robertson would give us some crazy depth scoring if he was bumped down and the ability to not miss in the event we lose a LW to injury which is likely. This means Domi is either on the 4th line or they decide to change things up and make him a center. A decent chance our third line could be

Robertson - Domi - Jarnkrok

Which honestly is one of the best 3rd lines we've ever entered a season with in this era. Robertson would basically allow a ton of flexibility, switching Domi from C to W as needed, etc.

He has been written out of the plans by most fans... Him coming out of no where would absolutely put this forward group over the top.

Hi guys.

Is the Leafs' roster for Traverse City prospect tournament released yet?

Definitely Grebyonkin.

I don't really consider Knies or Woll prospects anymore considering both are most likely to start the year with the Leafs, so strictly talking about players in the minors.

After last season in the KHL, Grebyonkin should be on everyones radar as a prospect that could absolutely shoot up prospect rankings with another strong season.

He has good size, can skate and has good offensive abilities.

He's a beauty .Cowan is flying in the knights camp

If Knies isn't an option then I gotta go with Grebyonkin as well. He's gonna grab some attention this year.

If any Fraser Minten

he did a great job last year learning how to play his own end as a defensive minded center and really stepped up in the playoffs when they needed him to play offense. He's not quite as big but I'm hoping he's got some Joe Neiuwendyk in him, a real team leader, a guy that's a solid #2/3 or 1 when needed.

He'll probably be slotted as the 1C this year and hopefully he can channel some of the aforementioned Neiuwendyk in his game and hit 45+ goals and continue his good work in the circle and both ends of the ice.

The obvious choice would be Knies. Grebyonkin and Cowan are two others. Minten and Niemela as well.

Minten was our 1st pick but a 2nd round selection.
Like Nick Robertson was.

Knies. An 82 games schedule is a big step up for a college kid and he’ll run out of gas at some point. I’m curious to see how long it takes him to refuel and get going.

I'd have to say Grebyonkin is top of my list. But i'd like to see them give Nick Robertson a shot as well. If he counts Bobby McMann is up there for me. Last two would be Villanueve, I think he has a shot to make it and Tverberg as my darkhorse, he's a speedy center who can play on the wing. Nice shot as well.

Connor Timmins if he counts *and plays a full season
Anyone who says he'll be waived for cap space will be mistaken and probably didn't watch Timmins' 25 games last year... he's already a superior 2 way defenseman compared to Liljegren imho
Plus leafs lack so much depth on D that they might even waive a Jarnkrok or Lafferty before Timmins for that reason alone *although none of the three need to be waived to become cap compliant
