Player A
64 Goals
89 Assists
153 Points

Player A's team finished 2nd in their division and conference.
The next leading scorers on his team have 128 pts and 103pts.
Player A had a 25 pt margin on the next leading scorer

Player B
61 Goals
52 Assists
113 Pts

Player B's team finished first in the league by a wide margin.
The next leading scorers on his team have 67pts, and 58 pts
Player B had a 46 pt margin on the next leading scorer.

Sometimes players have extrenely good seasons, perhaps the best in 5 years, but if another player is having the best season in 30-40 years, then it sucks but the best season is still the one thats the best in 30-40 years

The Bruins, not Pastrnak himself, had a season for the ages though

McDavid is winning all the awards unanimously, I dunno why you did this "Player A" and "Player B" thing as though taking away their names would somehow convince people Pastrnak was more deserving.

You are the one who brought McDavid into this...

I would go with McDavid aswell though. 153 pts is insane. Don't think outside the #1,2 all time its been done before.

Was just stunned what Pasta did offensively without even a 70pt player on the roster.

Edit
--
Stevie Y had 155 pts.

There were a bunch of players who had tremendous seasons that would normally be hyped up like crazy any other year -Pastrnak is one of them.

McDavid just happened to do something a bunch of fans have never seen in their lifetime.

Did they play during the same season? If so, one had 35% more points than the other. A’s season is much more impressive.

MacKs season was more impressive than Pastas for me and so was Drai. Both won’t finish 2nd for different reasons. Great season by Pasta but it’s easy to flourish as an offensive player when you have one of the best d cores assembled in a loooong time.

so player B plays on a better defensive team. That does not make his season better. McDavid Ainec. Pasta was amazing too though:)

A easily as you asked which player had the more impressive season. the team standings is a team accomplishment not an individual player accomplishment.

TBH, counting "points over the next team scorer" is beyond idiotic...

If you want to meassure how much somebody carried any given team, compare his production to all the rest of the roster, not to one player...

If somebody, hypothetically said, has 15 poins over next leading scorer, and 16 points over 3rd best scorer, is he better than someone with 10 pts over next scorer and 25 over 3rd???

Player A scored 25 more points then Player X who might be a generational player himself.

"Player X" who outscored "player B" by 15 points himself !

Heres some math for you.

Solve for X

Mcdavid vs Pasta

Mcdavid had the better year still byt Mcdavid on Boston goes down to 135 at most

Pasta with Drai probably goes to 120ish
That's a lot of words to say that you're just making things up. But it's cute that we're still ignorantly prognosticating McDavid's hypothetical production in different situations.
