I will go to the Olympics in Torino and I have already bought some tickets, but I'm undecided on two games, which will happen nearly at the same time: Canada vs Germany OR USA vs Kazakhistan.

USA roster will be nothing special to tell you the truth, while Canada will be loaded from the first to the fourth line with stars, Kazakhistan will be probably slightly better than Germany, but not that much.

Also, Keep in mind that:

- I will see the opening game Italy vs Canada so I will see Canada anyway, while I won't see USA if I won't go to that game.

- Due to less sits, USA vs Kazakhistan game costs more.

- Canada vs Germany will be a one-way game.

So, what's your choice?

canada will blow out the Germans :)

after what happened in 2002, you never know what's going to happen until it happens

a little reminder : Kariya broke a 2-2 tie late in the 3rd to give Canada it's only victory in the round robin.

I think you should probably go see the Canada-Germany game. You'll get to see more talent in that game.

No offense intended, but not many people here know about hockey outside the Elite 7.

The Germans have been trying to play a defensive boring system for many years, and then last year at the World Championships, they tried to open things up a bit....they finished 2nd last in the tournament and got relegated to Div I (B-Pool), so expect them to go back to the boring 5-man along the blue-line style.

Kazakhstan was THE surprise of the Olympic qualification rounds, upsetting heavily favored Austria. They will play more a system, and have sightly more firepower than the Germans. Plus a lot of them play together in the Russian league, so chemistry won't be as much of a problem.

This, combined with you already seeing Canada elsewhere in the tournament, I'd pick USA-KAZ.

Even if the Canada game was more expensive, I would still go to that one. Even though it will be a one sided game, just seeing all those stars on team would be amazing.

Actually it was Adam Foote with a flutter shot from the point, but whatever.

I would personally see Canada vs. Germany, the Germans always play a strong game and keep it close somehow with a good team game. I would also guess that they have players like Strum and Goc and Kolzig playing, so there are a few notables.

USA vs. Kazhakstan might be more of a blow out, but the US roster isn't what it was 4 years ago, and I personally couldn't name anybody from Kazhakstan off the top of my head, thats just me though.

Well, expect Kazakhstan to play sound defensive clutch-and-grab stile that isn't very interesting and expect Kolesnik to play good. So I think they won't allow many goals. Plus USA plays boring and slow hockey and they might have many problems penetrating Kazakh end.

Hockey wise I would choose CAN-GER cuz it will be, although still one-sided, more open game. But you will already see Canada by then (which means you will see all their offence and many goals) so no need for seing them again.

You will already see Canada and I think it might be very interesting seing USA working their buts off while trying to score. I say go with USA-KAZ!

You should know atleast Kolesnik.

Kolesnik, Antropov.... uhm.... Kostistyn. Oh wait, he plays for Belarus. THats all I can come up with off the top of my head.

Thanks everyone but I've decided to go to USA vs Kazakhistan.

No matter how many stars Canada will have or how good Germany will play, the game will be a blow-out anyway and I will see Canada ripping off Italy, no reason IMO to see another one sided game.

I prefer to see the last one of the Big Seven (USA) in a closer game since Kazakhistan is not that bad and USA is not that good (referring to Canada of course). Still USA will have plenty of good players.

Again, thanks for the input anyone ;)

Didn't Canada have a 3-0 lead before Germany came back with two quick goals, only to miss the tie because a shot hit only the post?
I certainly remember Germany getting scored on twice during and shortly after a 5-minute powerplay for Canada (on a bs call, by the way ;) ).

Canada-Germany games are always interesting. Sometimes Germany is really close, but gets no lucky breaks like other countries sometimes do (3-3 tie in 2001, 2-3 loss in 2002, 2-3 OT loss in 2003 or the dreadful shootout loss back in 1992) or Germany's defence looks completely lost and it ends up like in 2004 (1-6 loss).

I really hope that German tv will show the hockey games, but I really doubt it, since the games aren't in the middle of the night like last time...

Maybe Eurosport will carry all Hockey games like they did it 4 years ago.

Yeah, Canada was leading 3-0, but it was Foote (I think) who scored the 3rd goal, making it the game winner.

Will they also show this time? Hopefully cause I have all of them! :yo:

if memory serves me correctly the last 3 times Canada/Germany played weren't 2 of them one goal games?

USA/Kazakhistan was the right choice. Kazakhistan plays hard and could surprise somebody and if you're gonna see the Canadians anyway you might as well check out the US squad.
