Away White, until you spill something on it...
Historically, I think this has to do with Greyscale aka Black and White television and photography. Now, that is currently outdated it could work. Soccer allows both teams to wear their primary colors as long as it isn't in conflict. Why cant both teams wear dark, unless they are the same colour. For example, Wouldn’t the Leafs and Habs pop off the screen?

I think it's time that they switched back to the traditional white home jerseys.
Harold was an epic disaster but the ghost blue was brilliant.Away white as long as I live in another province , would switch to home blue if they made a run of Ballard jerseys ie the name in matching blue as a ghost name .
