Only Karlsson would have a chance to crack TC's defense. That's all you need to know.

Don't think Vlasic or Hamhuis should be there over Muzzin, spelled Mussin? Very impressive at the wc and for the Kings recently.

The Swedes lack a "crease clearer" otherwise scary, stacked whit modern puckmoving, smooth skating, precision shooting, offensive, yet two way defenders. Sweden win.

Karlsson - Hedman
Lindholm - OEL
Kronwall - Klingberg
Hjalmarsson

vs

Weber - Doughty
Subban - Pietrangelo
Vlasic - Keith
Hamhuis

Sweden is rich with Left-Shot Def, and Canada is rich with Right-Shot Def.

As good as Karlsson is, he would be behind Doughty and Weber, both of whom have a much more complete game, and on par with Pietrangelo, Subban, and Ekblad.

OEL and Hedman are better than any Left-Shot Canadians not named Keith.

But, overall, Canada's Def is stronger, especially as you get to the 3rd pairing.

Canada. Better depth and I think they have a more "mean" group than Sweden. Canada has a better top pair and 3rd pair also IMO

By the time the Olympics roll around, Aaron Ekblad could be the best d-man in the game if he continues on his current progression.

Not to mention, the depth Canada has is ridiculous. Letang, Girardi, Brent Burns...the list goes on and on.

Canada today, but going forward I would rather have Sweden's D. If you look at age Canada's average is 28 years while Sweden's is only 25.

You would probably also want to switch Kronwall (34) with Brodin (22), but then again if you were building a franchise you would also want to take a guy like Ekblad over Hamhuis (33), Keith (32) or even Weber (30).

No one from canada would crack the swedish defense in my mind.

I however would not have Hjalmarsson before Edler, Brodin, Strålman either, so I guess it is all about opinions

So Weber or Doughty wouldn't beat out Kronwall? Lmao ok

Preferring Karlsson or Subban, OEL or Doughty, even Hedman or Pietrangelo would be a matter of opinion. All great defensemen

Preferring any of Lindholm, Kronwall, Klingberg, Hjalmarsson, Brodin, or Strålman
over Doughty, Weber, Pietrangelo, or Subban is delusional.

I don't about that. I would prefer most of the Swedish defencemen over Vlasic or Hamhuis – probably all of them with the exception of Klingberg. Taken together, I think the best seven are (in no particular order): Karlsson, Hedman, OEL, Weber, Doughty, Subban, Keith.

Thank you - you said it better (and with less expletives) than I could. ;)

So you don't think that the likes of Doughty, Keith, Pietrangelo, Weber or Subban would make the Swedish Olympic Team? C'mon, there's just no way that you actually believe that.

There's not a huge gap, but I think Keith/Doughty/Weber puts Canada over the top.

Lol, you again.

Please tell me how Weber is a worse dman then all Klingberg.

Please do

I like Sweden's blue line a lot but it's only equal if the coach brings the right players.

also, I'd bring Edler.

Canada's is a lot harder to play against. Sweden's has some great elite D in OEL and Karlsson but Canada's is far better on the defensive side.
