Brett Hull suggested they should add two more teams to get more games. I'd be okay with that. Keep the existing teams, but add Slovakia and Switzerland (most players in NHL outside big 6) and add a rule to team NA that makes alumni only being available to their national teams even if they're still under 24. This would mean more non-NHL players being brought in though. Team Europe would probably be weak, but hey, at least guys like Kopitar and Draisaitl can be involved.

One league would have Kovalchuck, Datsyuk, Radulov...

10-0 against NCAA/WHL.

Radulov played for Quebec so would be on the Qmjhl team.

Can't see a khl team scoring 10 goals on a whl team with Price or Holtby in net and a d-core with keith, weber, seabrook, bouwmeester, hamonic, alzner, byfuglien, etc.

Also an NCAA alumni team would be pretty close to team usa but with toews instead of kane.

6 teams

Canada
Russia
USA
Sweden
Finland
Team World (consists of players who got snubbed and players from countries not in the top 5 hockey powers)

-No pools. Each team plays each other once. Reduce pretournament games from 3 to 1 to compensate for 2 extra games in round robin.
-Top 4 make the playoffs

One idea would be to merge the Czech team to into Team Europe, and then have a World 23 & Under Team, so all the young players not from North America. I think would end up hurting Finland quite a bit, though.

Six previous champions brought with time machine
2004 winner Canada
1996 USA
1991 Canada
1987 Canada
1984 Canada
1981 Soviet Union

It's such a rare occasion to have all six big hockey nations compile their best rosters, that it's a shame we don't get to see each team play each other. Due to the group format, we are missing out on classics like USA - Russia, Czech - Russia etc

A six team round robin is ideal. And would put this tournament way ahead of the Olympics for sure. No easy games, no excuses, every team plays each other.

So we are dumping the team that went 1-1-1 and I believe was a OT goal away from playing in the SF and keeping the two teams that both went 0-3? Do on ice results count for anything? Why even play the games?:dunno: Just crown the strongest team on paper champions!!!

Canada
Europe
Sweden
Russia
North America

The following play in a qualifying tournament

Finland
Norway
Germany
United States
Czech Rep
Switzerland

Top 3 made it to the WHC.
