Which 6 or 8 teams would you have in your World Cup?

What teams would make up your ideal World Cup? You can have any country/age/experience limitations you want with the teams.

Here are some possibilities:

Grizzled vets - 800 GP in the NHL
Team scandanavia- Finland and Sweden combined
Non NHLers - players who have never played in the NHL or who haven't played in the NHL the previous season.

Bonus: Make all your teams not represent 1 country (No Team Canada allowed)

Personally I would have only nations represented, but to go along with the thread I would select:

1. Team Quebec (Quebec)
2. Team Canada East (Ontario and East)
3. Team Canada West (Manitoba and West)
4. Team Soviet Bloc (Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Belarus, Slovenia etc.)
5. Team Scandinavia (Finland, Sweden, Norway)
6. Team Heartland (Minnesota, North/ South Dakota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas)
7. Team Atlantic (Atlantic USA states)
8. Team Pacific (Western USA states)
9. Team Central Europe (Every other European Nation)
10. Team World (Asia, Africa, Australia, South/ Central America, Antarctica)

Team nordic would be Sweden with like 2 finns, 1 norwegian and 1 dane (with current rosters, might be different in 4 years). But sure if we want gimmick teams I guess it could work.

This is almost too funny to insult. Seriously putting 2 countries at war into same team? Finland is NOT in scandinavia.

It should be Slovakia and Switzerland as last 2 teams.

Honestly, I think the reason behind gimmick teams is that NHL couldn't guarantee participation of players from Euro leagues. Well, they are interested, they want to play.

An international tournament should be exactly that, a tournament between nations.

I propose Team Tsarist Russia. Ovie/Malkin would be thrilled to be hated by all the old school commies in Russia.

Or Team "Countries Invaded by Russia". Czech, Finland, Poland, Latvia, Germany, Austria.

Endless possibilities with these allstar teams.

Why not have Slovakia and Switzerland?

They've proven before that they are fully capable of upsetting a top team.

Actually, unless I'm mistaken, Swiss have been a bit of a thorn in Canada's side recently.

4 Canadian regional teams duke it for Canadian dominance. I d watch that over this current world Cup. Throw in Minnesota if you want the 200k US viewers to tune in.
