It's a tricky exercise.

Where would you have him?

1. Makar
2. Petterson
3. Hischier
4. Hieskanen

There are 4 players you could put at 5-
Thomas
Norris
Suzuki
Necas

Suzuki is in the top 8, maybe in the top 5.

Currently I'd say:

1) Makar
2) Heiskanen
3) Robertson
4) Pettersson
5) Suzuki
6) Hischier
7) Thomas
8) Necas
9) Norris
10) Batherson

But Suzuki already showed his playoff pedigree (as being the main guy) and he's extremely tough/versatile, he also keeps getting better. 4 to 7 are interchangeable, it depends on what you value more for your criteria. Makar is Makar, he's generational and Heiskanen to me is very likely to become a Hedman-esque Dman. I won't rank Oettinger cus goalies are too hard to evaluate.

To me Pettersson has more game breaking talent but he's softer and doesn't have Suzuki's playoff pedigree, they're both solid defensively. If you value health and playoff pedigree over the other stuff i mentioned you could easily put Suzuki over Pettersson, that said Pettersson looked good in his 1 NHL playoff run and SHL run. Basically if Pettersson is Datsyuk, Suzuki is Bergeron.. hard to pick between the 2.

In hindsight (still got a long way to go tho), the amount of elite talent that came out of that draft is pretty crazy.

3rd or 4th for my money.

Makar is the only player from that draft that I would definitely trade Suzuki for.

Pettersson, Robertson, Heiskanen, Thomas, Hischier... while any of them are debatably better than Nick right now, I'd still bet on Suzuki being the most impactful of the bunch over the next 5-10 years.

Makar and Robertson are clear 1 and 2.

I put Suzuki in the same group as Heiskanen, Petterson, Hischier, Thomas, etc
