Where would Adam Fantilli have been selected in the previous five NHL Drafts, considering the level of anticipation and attention garnered by the players chosen in those particular years?

Maybe I am just not in the know but he got nowhere as much hype as Laf did but that might of course be because Bedard steals it.

Laf wold go ahead of Fantilli for sure - both had dominant seasons and the only mutual ground is the WJC where Laf was dominant and MVP and Fantilli was above average to good at best.

People want to use revisionist history and act like they would have passed on him because of his skating and lack of dynamic skills etc, but that was just not happening, he was as unanimous of a #1 as you can get outside of a Crosby/McDavid/Bedard.

Fantilli goes #1 over Slaf for sure, possibly Power, and maybe Hughes (I think that would be a toss up)

He doesn't go #1 over Laf or Dahlin, I would actually put him in the category of Svechnikov who was an extremely good prospect and has become a very good NHL player that I can still see becoming a 40+ goal scorer. I think Fantilli becomes something similar to that in terms of overall impact. In the Seguin/Eichel category

Montreal, Canada
Dahlin still go 1st
Laf probably still go 1st
Hughes maybe go 1st

what a question, youre reaching and trying to figure out where a guy who hasnt played a single NHL game would be drafted vs NHL players...

Not at all... The OP is asking to go back in time and try to evaluate where this prospect would have been drafted coming up in each of these drafts.

Read the OP next time

Laf, Kakko, Hughes and Dahlin would go earlier. Easy to say now he goes before LAF but would there have been any arguments pre draft? Didn't he have higher ppg than MCD and almost equal to Crosby in CHL while Fantilli equals to Eichel's results?

Every time I watch him I come away thinking meh. He doesn’t appear to be anything special. Not sure he even deserves to be the distinct #2.

Laf and Dahlin go before Fantilli. It's close with Hughes but i guess Fantilli goes 1st. Fantilli goes 1st in 2021 and 2022 (and 2019 as mentioned before).
At the time of the draft without knowing how Laf would turn out he is definitely picked 1st over fantilli imo
