Top 10 really. There are a lot of dominant goalies throughout history that can make a strong case to be above him. He’s not in the Hasek/Roy tier and I don’t think he’s really in the next one with guys like Plante/Dryden/Sawchuk/Hall. I have him more in a tier with guys like Brimsek or CuJo

It may not be the most popular way to determine the greatest player in a sport but I always hold the players who break the game to the highest regard.

Brodeur forced the league to change its rules because he was too good at what he did. Hasek and Roy never got to that level.

I’ve got him at three behind Roy and Hasek.

His records, maybe they were partly because he played on a great team, but whoever heard of a puck moving goalie before him? Now every goalie needs to be at least competent playing the puck, that was him.

And not only that, but he played 90-95% of the games, that doesn’t happen anymore.

No higher than 5 since Idon’t really see an argument for him to be ahead of those 4.

Dominik Hasek
Probably had the highest peak of any player ever outside of the big-4. Enormous NHL and international legacy.

Patrick Roy
Completely changed the way the position was played. In the running for the best playoff performer of all time.

Jacques Plante
Was goaltending the greatest dynasty ever with Smythe worthy performances. Brought countless innovations like handling the puck. Had incredible stints in later years with STL and TOR.

Glenn Hall
Incredibly long prime which earned him 7 1st All Star teams (equivalent of 7 Vezina trophies) and a Conn Smythe. Incredibly consistent goalie.

After that Brodeur enters the conversation but so does Terry Sawchuk, Ken Dryden and Vladislav Tretiak. So while having him outside of the top 10 would probably be underestimating him severely, I think he can arguably be ranked anywhere between 5-8. (I have him at 5)

Plante, Dryden, Sawchuk, Hall and Parent all make it easy to debate

Have you ever stood between the pipes? Trust me, you wouldn't do it without a mask

Plante, Sawchuk and Hall all spent a big part of their careers not wearing masks... I mean, you just can't compare that hockey with modern hockey

Dryden only played 7 seasons... just not long enough

What's the case for Parent over Brodeur?

How can you put a goalie who played in the 50s in your top 3? What’s your criteria?

If you're going to ignore 70% of professional hockey history, then you're simply unwilling to make an all time list. Ignorance is no excuse.

Plante's dominance in the mid to the late 50s is higher than Brodeur achieved.

He was the linchpin of 6 Cups, and has many more elite runs on top of that.

The Hart Trophy in 1962.

The HoH has routinely voted Hasek/Roy/Plante as the top 3 goalies ever.
