Already posted in the CBJ board, but wanted to throw it out here as well. Hoping to get my son the chance to meet Hank. Driving a few hours for the Columbus game. Planning on being there for warm-ups, etc. Thought about staying where the players do so we could maybe catch them in the lobby before they head to the rink. Anything else to increase his chances? Thanks.

I think going the sign route or where the players enter the arena is your best bet. When I was 8 I brought a sign for Nash and he skated over to me during warmups where the tunnel is and signed my jersey

Surprised anyone would go to Ohio on holiday. It’s almost tongue in cheek.

I've said the before, but I find a lot locations in Ohio to be...weird.

You know one of those movies where the main character walks into a new town and he can't quite determine what feels "off" about the place? That's Ohio.

And I'd chalk it up to being in my head if I hadn't heard the exact same thing from so many other people, from a variety of different locations and backgrounds.

Ohio? I spent a month there one week.

Actually, I was dating a girl who was from Southern Ohio, near Portsmouth. She invited me up to visit her and her family over the week of July 4th. It truly was the middle of nowhere. No cell signal at all. 2 1/2 hours from anywhere. Let's just say some of the stereotypes of Kentucky and West Virginia are not completely untrue. We did go to Cincinnati for a Reds game and the zoo, and went to Columbus, mainly so I could say I've been there...

Each town in Ohio has its own stereotype, per the girl...

But outside of shooting AR-15s and some police style handguns (her brother was a sheriff's deputy) on her family's property on July 4th, it was boring with almost nothing to do.

Now, downtown Cincinnati wasn't too bad (drive to the zoo was kind of like going through the South Bronx though.)

Columbus, near Ohio State, has a ****ton of bars up and down High Street.

Nash was here starting 2013, so are you 14/15? And you've been on this board since 2016, were you 11/12? Jesus...

The southeastern portion of the state where you come in from Wheeling, WV is gorgeous. And I was also taken by the mountainous areas around Akron. But, going west on US30 into Indiana is just rather blah...just flat with a lot of nondescriptive scenery.

About 15 years ago my dad and I were driving cross country...we stopped off at a restaurant in West Virginia to get lunch. When we walked in it was straight out of a movie...all conversation stopped. Heads turned...it's like we were the first 2 non white people to have ever stepped foot into their town.

Suffice it to say we got the eff out of there before we ended up dead.

The truth is, you might have been the first non-white people some of those patrons saw in a long time. When you start getting into certain parts of the country, diversity can be a pretty...rare discovery.

Pffft, what do you think he gets autographed?

Anyone can have a signed puck or jersey. But a legal document? Now that’s a collectors item.

Nils Lundkvist's grandpa bought me a drink for my birthday
Vitali Kravtsov's dad got me his KHL All Star jersey
Lias is safe. I have not met his family yet
