Trying to get a bead on what flexibility we have for further moves after the underrated Trocheck signing.
And moving on from Kreider and Trouba has always been the move. If we play our cards right, that is.After dumping Nemeth we should hopefully have enough to re-sign Kakko and Motte. I would be happy with that lineup in 2022-23. The real questions are for next offseason.
K'Andre Miller is a star in the making. The Rangers would be smart to lock him up to an 8-year contract, but defensemen get paid a premium nowadays. Ideally he would take a team friendly 6.5 but if Sergachev got 8x8, I could see Key demand the same after a strong season. Laf is gonna need a contract too, but unless he puts up top line production (65+ points, which is entirely possible) I think he'll get a bridge. 5x3 or something like that.
Thankfully the cap is rising soon but these next few years are gonna be tight. I think the Rangers are gonna have to trade two of Goodrow, Kreider, and Trouba in the next 2 years. It's a tough pill to swallow but ideally Laf/Schneider can fill in. I'm praying the cap rises before 2025 because Shesterkin is gonna demand a fleet of Brinks trucks.
