When healthy, how would you rank our guys in terms of who helps us win games the most?

This is just a small experiment to see which players you value more than others. This could lead into expansion draft or TDL discussion, as well as next year's roster. I think it's a good basis for what direction we think the team should go.

And I don't mean 'healthy' as in past injuries to players never happened. If a player isn't 100% right now, you're ranking of them should reflect where you think they should be after they've recovered from their injury. So for example, Parayko probably isn't 100% right now and it's safe to assume he will at least come close to returning to the level of play we know he's capable of on an average night. Same with Tarasenko (if you believe he isn't fully back up to speed) and Sundqvist, etc. It's up to your discretion on specific players. Feel free to cut your list off wherever you want.

Here's my top 10:

1. Parayko
2. O'Reilly
3. Schwartz
4. Perron
5. Binnington
6. Sundqvist
7. Schenn
8. Faulk
9. Tarasenko
10. Krug

This is a good idea, and sounds fun.

1. O'Reilly
2. Perron
3. Parayko
4. Schwartz
5. Schenn
6. Binnington
7. Faulk
8. Tarasenko
9. Krug
10. Kyrou
11. Thomas
12. Sundqvist

O'Reilly and Perron are what make this team go, followed only by Schwartz and Parayko since neither of those players tend to contribute as much to the offense (though Schwartz is close for me). Schenn and Binnington provide sparks for this team, and when they are playing well, the whole team tends to play well. Faulk and Tarasenko are secondary, as even when they are playing well, they don't make the rest of the team better. Krug, Kyrou, Thomas, and Sundqvist are pieces that can come up big for us occasionally, but do so less often/less meaningfully than those above them. Depending on how Krug and Tarasenko return to form over the next year or so really determines if they can move up a couple of spots, and I hope that both do; both should be dominant if we want to have lots of success.

Pretty solid list. I disagree the most on your ranking of Sundqvist. I view Sundqvist as like a middle 6 version of O'Reilly. He does all the little things very well on both sides of the ice. He can come up with a big goal or defensive play from time to time. He can be put in nearly all situations, and is especially valuable on the PK. He can move just about anywhere in the lineup and not be a liability. He's not as skilled as some of our other forwards, but his fundamentals are near the top. Rarely do you see him make a mistake. If I'm trying to win a game on any given night, I feel much more comfortable with Sundqvist in the lineup.

I feel like Sundqvist is the perfect example of a player that doesn't help you win games as much as he helps you not lose them. It's hard for me to put him ahead of how I view Kyrou and Thomas to the success of this team.

As I've said many times before, and will continue to say until it's understood: Kyrou does a lot more than just put up points, and I'm convinced that putting up points will be something he does anywhere from .6-.9 PPG. Thomas is also extremely underrated on this board. His ability to drive play while also playing excellent defense is something we don't get from anyone out side of Schwartz and O'Reilly (maybe Perron), and that goes for both forwards and defensemen. He still has not hit it yet, but his potential is sky-high in my view, though I don't think he ever becomes a dominant 1C without everything going right.

I also think that an acclimated Krug becomes a better version of prime Shatenkirk for us, where if he's having a good week, the team is nearly impossible to beat.

We should do cumulative polls for this, like we do prospect rankings. I think the first couple are probably easy, once you get outside about 3rd or 4th I think it'll get messy but interesting to see how everyone values our guys.

This sounds like fun, I'll do a top 10

1. Parayko (seems pretty clear right now he's the most important)
2. ROR (Pretty simple)
3. Perron (Became a more complete player which is why he's higher than Vova)
4. Tarasenko (If he's healthy and 100%? Easy 30 goal scorer)
5. Binnington (without him, we prob don't win many games; No backup options to put him lower)
6a. Schwartz
6b. Schenn
8. Faulk
9. Sundqvist
10. Krug

The bottom 3 might be rearranged in any order, but I value defenseman a bit more than forwards since you're only limited to 6. I think Sunny is invaluable to this team, but as far as being a main reason why we win, I don't know if that's true. Anywho, Parayko is probably the most important, followed by your #1 center, and then you can kinda fill in the blanks with what you value the most. Binnington is ranked above those other guys because no one is here right now that can lessen the burden for him. He has to be sharp every time he plays and he has to play more than he should because Husso is unstable. Schwartz and Schenn are probably equally valuable so they get the tandem position.

If enough people make a list I can add them up manually and make a master list of the averages.

1. RoR
2. Perron
3. Parayko (him and Perry are very close).
4. Tarasenko (provides goal scoring for a team that struggles with it. Underrated as a play maker.)
5. Schwartz
6. Binnington
7. Faulk (when he's on he adds such an important element to this team, and he's been on fairly consistently this year)
8. Schenn (streakier production than I'd like but consistently intense)
9. Kyrou (I expect him to be much higher this time next year. Just needs to bring his best game more often)
10. Thomas (rough start to the year before his injury, but I really liked him last night. Call it recency bias, but his play making makes a huge impact)

Krug was close but hasn't asserted himself completely yet. Sunny is close too but I would still pick Thomas over him to win a game, even with his slow start.

1) Parayko (would normally say ROR/Perron, but with current roster construction, Parayko allows the rest of the D-core to slot into roles they are suited for)
2)ROR/Perron (hard to split them apart)
4)Binnington
5)Schwartz
6)Thomas
7)Faulk
8)Schenn
9)Kyrou
10)Tarasenko

Yeah, this is one of the main reasons I have Parayko at 1. With Parayko out of the lineup, we are a completely different team. In my opinion, Parayko and O'Reilly have to be 1 and 2 or vice versa, depending on what you value more.

Also, I'm a little surprised more people don't have Schwartz top 3 or 4. He may not be putting up as many points as we'd like, but he's the first domino that leads to a good chance a lot of the time. Whether it be a good defensive play in our own zone, a steal in the neutral zone, or a strong forecheck in the O-zone...the puck usually goes through him first. Even if Schwartz isn't scoring, he's still being effective in all 3 zones. I value that playstyle a bit more I guess.

It's kind of hard to make this list, but an interesting topic for sure. I didn't expect my list to end up like that, and I could probably re-do it a bunch of different ways. Obviously Schwartz, Schenn and Tarasenko are more talented players than Sunny, but Sunny may be harder to "replace" simply because we don't have many guys with his exact skillset. I put Schwartz 4th simply because of his defense, puck control, PKing even though Perron/Tarasenko are better scorers. A healthy Tarasenko should be higher on the list and maybe I should have put him there anyway. We didn't play well overall from the time he went out last year until his return and he is making an impact, for sure.

Honestly I'm already second guessing my list so I'll save myself the trouble and just post my reply!

Assuming health and at the top of their game?

ROR
Binnington
Parayko
Tarasenko
Schwartz
Perron
Schenn
Krug
Thomas
Faulk

Our forward group isn't nearly as dynamic as many team's in the league at this point, so when they are all clicking, it has a bigger impact on the team IMO. Krug's peak was higher than anyone on the backend, though I kind of doubt we see him at that level during his time here but that is why he is as high as he is.

Don't assume they are at their peak. Your rankings should reflect how much they contribute to the Blues winning right now assuming they are healthy and playing up to the level you think they are reasonably capable of now or in the near future. So if you don't think Krug will reach the level of play that you speak of for the Blues, then your rankings should reflect that.
