When does Trotz pull the plug on Brunette?

Let's face it. Barry is a coach doing a GM job. He thinks like a coach. He empathizes with coaches. He will be very slow is booting Bruno because ownership doesn't have the confidence, nor do they want the responsibility, of putting pressure on Trotz.

So here we sit.

I admire Barry's loyalty. He's been on the ass-end of emotional, reactionary moves by GM's, and he's benefitted from the Pope-Esque job security he enjoyed in Nashville for 17 years.

However, as GM, he's accountable for results. If he sticks with Bruno and we continue to suck, Haslem will be the bad guy. He has zero fingerprints on any of the damning evidence. Barry and Bruno will go, and Nashville will be in uncharted leadership territory. We need Trotz to succeed because we value continuity. Poile was our "woobie" for 24 years. Through good and bad, he was always there and did enough good things to keep us loyal, for the most part. Trotz was a coaching woobie until Lavi but he has no GM goodwill. His 23-24 vet moves were good, and we overperformed to get into the playoffs. But now he's broken out trust. He truly screwed this thing up. We may be looking at years of suck.

To add to my previous comment I missed this comment from Trotz yesterday which I think supports the idea the Trotz sees himself in Bruno:

There's also this one which is infuriating given the roster choices he's made:

What am I missing here? Don't we believe actions speak louder than words? As far as I've seen we have got older and slower, not younger and faster! What alternate universe does Trotz live in?

This is literally a direct contradiction to what he did in the offseason. I chuckled when I read this. It's head scratching.

Apparently, we are in dire straits so that Barry can feel good about giving his 41-year-old self more time back in 2003?? It's past the frustration point and it's just comical now.

Brunette may be here forever 😆

An interesting thing Barry said on sports radio yesterday was when he coached the Preds there were many times that he felt Poile should let him go but Poile stood by his side. He mentioned something about it being an expansion club but it seemed his mind is basically stuck at Poile was patient with me therefore I should be patient with my coach. But Trotz said it himself he was coaching below average talent level post-expansion teams. Nobody was expecting him to contend for the cup and he got an incredible amount of out of those teams. Totally opposite of expectations and results this year.

Got to get younger and faster....
Extends carrier to waive fabbro
Signs Stamkos and March... neither are young or fast
Skjei is younger and faster than McD so i guess ill give him that

Trades tomasimo and seems to have no issue with how the young and fast players are treated or the ice time given.

I'm not so sure on Skjei being faster. I think he's been inferior to McD at every stage so far. I haven't seen the extra offensive ability he was touted to have. I honestly think that's the signing I have been most disappointed in, and each game I think it's going to improve only to find myself thinking "what is this guy doing?".

I have said it before, but I am not sure if this system is not his style but it sure doesn't seem to be working great. He's the guy I would look to move before we crater his value any further. Surely somebody would still take him back with a positive value.

I'll also say, watching the game last night I thought even with all the 4th round call up defenders, Schenn was our worst defender.

This league is infested with execs and coaches who will on paper understand the league trend toward youth and speed, but when push comes to shove they play the vets, particularly those that play with grit.

It's interesting because those early Preds teams Trotz coached certainly played physical and forechecked hard but they always valued speed too.

At 29 games in, we are 12 points BEHIND where we were 29 games in last season. We are also worse in almost every metic.
Goals/game
Goals against/game
PP%
Shots/game

Only thing we got going for us is the PK% and overall shot suppression. This team would need a run even greater than last year in the middle of injury issues (Lauzon, Carrier, RoR, Josi?) And illness (Nyquist, Josi?) To turn this around. The strength of our remaining schedule is harder than teams we would be fighting for the wildcards spots as well. At some point, reality has to settle into the GMs mind.

Fire Brunette and get a coach who can coach the kids(Taylor, duh). Spend the rest if the year unf***ing everything Brunette has done to the kids, let the vets heal their injuries and the uninjured vets play mentor, and hope next year the improvement of the kids outpaces the decline of the vets
