This one has been at the forefront for lots of Blue Jackets fans.

Because of his age Mike Reilly will only have 2 years on his ELC wherever he signs. The question is when does it become only one year left?

After he plays one game professionally? One game in the NHL? 10 games like a 18 or 19 year old?

Have tried reading the CBA but can't seem to find a specific spot to definitely decide.

Any armchair CBA experts out there?

After one game.

The ELS contract slide only applies to 18 & 19 yos.

Typically, if a team signs an NCAA player after the completion of his NCAA season and he then plays 1 NHL game it burns off an entire season from his ELS contract - but he does not earn an Accrued Season for UFA status or a year of Professional Experience for RFA status or arbitration.

That was why Reilly Smith and Torrey Krug were not RFAs this past offseason. They signed after their NCAA seasons and then played 2-3 NHL games. They burned a year off their 3 year ELS SPCs, but did not earn a year of pro experience. As a result they were not RFA eligible and not subject to Offer Sheets.

Bumping this because of the Alex Lyon situation. The cap sites have his contract starting this season, but there's no indication he will play in one of the Flyers final three games.

So can they burn a year off his ELC some other way?

Has he played pro-games at all? I don't think it matters whether it's the AHL or NHL as far as burning a year.
