What's your biggest fear?

Mine is probably heights. Yours?
You are afraid of death, aka the loss of your life.

If there was no consequence to free-falling 5,000 feet from the sky, you would not be afraid of heights.

You are probably just as afraid of a pack of wolves or a deranged serial murderer as you are of heights.

dunno about that

i get wicked vertigo from heights

don't think that has anything to do with a fear of death

but, other than heights, i honestly would say centipedes

i love spiders, but centipedes give me the free willies big time

Silverfish would freak you out. They're faster than centipedes, they accelerate like no other wingless insect, and they can climb walls. They breed like crazy, and show up at night in the darkness.

The stuff of nightmares.

Once they infest the home, they hide underneath walls and in dark spaces in the daytime, then come out at night. They don't need to eat for six months, lay eggs every day, and can live up to eight years. They feed on dust and starches, so houses are a perfect home for them.

Horrific.

Austin Powers: There are only two things in this world that scare me and one is nuclear war.
Basil: What’s the other?
Austin Powers: Huh?
Basil: What’s the other thing that scares you?
Austin Powers: Carnies. Circus folk. Nomads, you know. Smell like cabbage. Small hands.

aren't they related to prawns or something. they look familiar for some reason.
They both come from the Arthropoda phylum. That said, all insects, arachnids, and crustaceans are arthropods. They are called silverfish because of their silvery scales and tapered rear end. Related to them are bristletails and firebrats.

They definitely aren't the same as prawns. Silverfish are one of the oldest, most primitive insect species of all; they have soft exoskeletons, as they are so good at running from their predators that they never developed a hard shell. The way that they scurry, stop, and wiggle is so alien-like -- their movements are very sudden and fast, and they are extremely agile. It's particularly unnerving when a person tries to kill one, and it bolts away. They are somewhat smart, and try to hide if they feel they are threatened.

Sometimes, you'll find them together in a group. Get near them, and they'll scatter all over the place at rapid speed.

You are probably just as afraid of a pack of wolves or a deranged serial murderer as you are of heights.

But a situation where you are in heights is less likely to put you at risk of death than a situation that you are with a deranged serial killer. Therefore, the fear of heights is bigger.

My fear of heights doesn't work that way.

If I'm on a roof, say 30' up, it's rough. Cuz I know that if I fall, i'm probably not going to die, but I'll get broken.

But I can stand on the Royal Gorge bridge and lean over it without fear, cuz I know that if I fall, I'm a deader.

So the fear isn't one of death, but of pain or a crippling injury -- mostly the crippling part.

That irunthepeg's obsession with me leads to me finding him in my house with my name carved all over his body repeatedly.
