Made me curious going thru some of the lists. Not that relevant to playing hockey but athletically speaking...

Most of the top "leaders" were between 30-34" but I only could find a few years.

Nba draft express has a really cool combine database for everything.

The average at the 2012 combine was only around 24 inches.

Talk about heavy legs. Flat tire as they say...lol

Had a feeling that vid would get posted.

What was the first year of the combine?

Not at the combine but Morgan Rielly had a sixty inch vertical jump here...I guess it's more of a hurdle.

Morgan reilly killed at the combine but his vertical was like 30" which was still one of the top ones.

Rielly first came to mind with his jump in the vids posted above. Kids a beast.

I wanna see what the association between vertical jump is and the players that are really fast.

I'm interested in this too. Usually, players who are great at vertical jumping have a high % of their muscle fibres to be fast-twitched. The fastest players are also the people with the highest % of fast-twitch muscle fibres.

Morgan Rielly, for example, with the 60' clear shows on the ice.

That being said, I am now curious about Grabner and Kessel.

They had an article related to this and scouts saw a correlation with skating speed/acceleration. But at the same time the higher you go up in vertical/high twitch the worse the endurance you have.

I agree. Getting you toes barely onto something 3 inches lower than Rielly got his feet completely over is something to be proud of.

One was standing still , while the other took a run at it......

If the difference that makes needs to be explained to you then Sports and Athletics might not be your thing...... Maybe u should stick to video gaming.

Always impressed with stuf like this... really cool. Makes me think of this

Remember seeing this on swedish televisision some 8 or so years ago. Hurdles are 6 feet high if I remember correct.

I don't think you guys know what a vertical is...

That's how they test.

........Said the puck bunny

Patches was at a standstill, and he actually jumped vertically. Rielly had a moving start, and it was more of a hurdle.

I would definitely say the former was more impressive than the latter.
