Ok the first nine games away from home is rough...not to mention a new coach and system, and injuries to Callahan and Hagelin...although, to be fair, injuries are part of the game and other teams have them too. That's why you need depth.

That said, what would be your bottom line result for the nine games? For me, I think we need at least seven points...anything below that would qualify as a rough start. It would only be a start, I get that, but nine games is more than ten percent of the entire season....it cannot be a disaster.

Give me 3-5-1 before they return to the games played under the bridge, and I'll be satisfied. Anything above than that would be nice, anything less would put them in a hole early in the season.

What say you?

Look at this schedule:

Thu 10/03 Phoenix Coyotes
Mon 10/07 Los Angeles Kings
Tue 10/08 San Jose Sharks
Thu 10/10 Anaheim Ducks
Sat 10/12 St. Louis Blues
Wed 10/16 Washington Capitals
Sat 10/19 New Jersey Devils
Thu 10/24 Philadelphia Flyers
Sat 10/26 Detroit Red Wings

There's at least 5 wins in there, anything less is disappointing IMO, and 6 is a success

51%+ Fenwick close and at least 3 wins is passable.

It is a pretty low bar, but I'm not sure how we'll manage 5v5 without Hagelin. Worst case scenario only the Pouliot-Brassard-Zuccarello line can consistently outplay the opposition.

Success: 53%+ FClose and at least 4 wins.

Number of wins from such a small sample as nine games is almost irrelevant, but level of play is important.

Poll should be in terms of points. 9 points would be acceptable.

Yep. I could live with 4-5 for 8 points also. This month to me is all about surviving. Get out of it .500 and healthy and I'll be very happy. Same thing happened with them in 11-12. Brutal trip that they did alright on and they came back to MSG and dropped the first two there. After that, they turned it on and never really looked back. Again, survive and get to November and do damage from there. They also have that big 9 game homestand in December where they could rack up points as well.

I expect around 4 wins and 8-9 points. Anything more than that is a success imo.

I would say a .500 road trip would be successful. That long of a time away from home is pretty rough. We should be able to fix any mis-steps that we have now when we have our long home stand.

Would be thrilled with 8 or 9 points (which is about .500). They're going up against three home openers.

more wins then loses. honestly for our schedule and situation staying above .500 is all we need for the first month.

9 points is a realistic expectation, although based on how a lot of our starters looked in the preseason compared to other teams' players I'm not sure we'll achieve it

Our injuries are overrated. Cally might only miss a couple of games. They've got to win games, this is not going to be an easy playoff race.
