So I'm bored and very curious to think what to do this offseason with all these free agents we'll have. Here's what it looks like....
UFA's
RW: Ryan Callahan ($4,275,000)
C: Brian Boyle ($1,700,000)
LW: Taylor Pyatt ($1,550,000)
LW: Benoit Pouliot ($1,300,000)
C: Domenic Moore ($1,000,000)
D: Dan Girardi ($3,325,000)
D: Anton Stralman ($1,700,000)
G: Henrik Lundqvist ($6,875,000)

LW: Darrol Powe ($1,066,667)
RW: Arron Asham ($1,000,000)
C: Micheal Haley ($600,000)
D: Stu Bickel ($750,000)
D: Aaron Johnson ($600,000)
D: Danny Syvret ($587,500)

RFA's
C: Derick Brassard ($3,200,000)
LW: Mats Zuccarello ($1,150,000)
C: Chris Kreider ($800,000)
D: Micahael Del Zotto ($2,550,000)
D: Justin Falk ($975,000)
D: John Moore ($840,000)

LW: Danny Kristo ($875,000)
LW: Kyle Jean ($705,000)
LW: Ryan Bourque ($656,667)
LW: Brandon Mashinter ($605,000)
LW: Jason Wilson ($583,333)
G: Jason Missiaen ($675,000)
G: Scott Stajcer ($620,000)

That would leave 6 forwards, 2 defensemen, & 1 goalie at a cap hit of $31,556,667. With the salary cap being $64,300,000 for next year, that would leave us $32,743,333 to spend. We would also have 21 players under contract for next year.

So the question is, as of right now who would you resign and let go (via trade or free agency)? Who would you want to replace the player(s)? Let me hear your thoughts guys.

UFA's
RW: Ryan Callahan ($4,275,000) --> Resign, hopefully under 5 million for 5 years or less, although I'd go higher on the $. More concerned about term than money here, don't see him lasting through an 8 year deal.
C: Brian Boyle ($1,700,000)--> Resign if the price is right.
LW: Taylor Pyatt ($1,550,000)--> Goodbye!
LW: Benoit Pouliot ($1,300,000)-->Goodbye!
C: Domenic Moore ($1,000,000)--> Wouldn't mind resigning if the price is right, good 4th liner.
D: Dan Girardi ($3,325,000)--> Resign unless he wants more than 5 million or so. Probably most likely to walk out of all of our UFA's though.
D: Anton Stralman ($1,700,000)--> Resign at the right price(2.5 million?)
G: Henrik Lundqvist ($6,875,000)--> Resign at no more than 9 million for 5 years, 8.5 for 7 or 8 for 8. If it's clear before the deadline that he doesn't want to resign him, move him to a playoff team with injuries for whatever you can, although I doubt that happens. Too valuable an asset to let go for free. I don't want Talbot as a full time starter yet, but if we get a competent NHL starter back as part of a deal, I'd be OK with it. Again, this is only if Hank says he has no interest in resigning at any price that we're even willing to consider paying.

LW: Darrol Powe ($1,066,667)-->Goodbye!
RW: Arron Asham ($1,000,000)-->Goodbye!
C: Micheal Haley ($600,000) I'd like to see him stick around as a 4th liner/callup option, however, he could probably stick with another team as a 4th liner, so I'm guessing he walks.
D: Stu Bickel ($750,000)-->Goodbye!
D: Aaron Johnson ($600,000)-->Has played well in HFD so far. Would be good to keep in HFD for top pairing/callup in case of injury.
D: Danny Syvret ($587,500)-->Don't know much about him, but probably goodbye!

RFA's
C: Derick Brassard ($3,200,000)-->Will probably end up in arbitration, guessing somewhere around 4 million for a year.
LW: Mats Zuccarello ($1,150,000)-->Should be resigned, would be good to lock him up at a reasonable price on a multi year contract. 2 million for 2 years?
C: Chris Kreider ($800,000)-->Probably gets a bridge deal in the 2-2.5 million range or so. Outside chance he gets a long term deal if he stays hot and finishes 65-70 points + or so.
D: Micahael Del Zotto ($2,550,000)--> Probably will be traded at the deadline.
D: Justin Falk ($975,000)-->Wouldn't mind having him around as a 7th.
D: John Moore ($840,000)-->Bridge deal.

LW: Danny Kristo ($875,000)-->Bridge deal
LW: Kyle Jean ($705,000)-->Know nothing about him.
LW: Ryan Bourque ($656,667)-->Know nothing about him.
LW: Brandon Mashinter ($605,000)-->Probably will be qualified
LW: Jason Wilson ($583,333)-->Know absolutely nothing about him.
G: Jason Missiaen ($675,000)-->Unless he can pick it up, goodbye! Sign a NCAA goalie for Hartford, he's basically useless.
G: Scott Stajcer ($620,000)-->I'd like to see him stick around, he's playing OK for Hartford and is still young.

My thoughts in the quoted post. I'd like to see one top 6 UFA signing or acquired in a trade, either a center or LW. Also depends on if the Beaver is bought out, I was for it and probably still am, but I just have a feeling that Sather will keep him... If he's bought out, a top 6 center is needed either through trade/UFA, ideally Brassard is the 3C, he's a bit too inconsistent to be the 2# IMHO. We need a #1 right D if Girardi walks.

I would try to trade Brassard for picks and/or prospects if possible, because he won't be back next year. Arniel does not like him at all and he doesn't really fit into the new top 6. Try to negotiate Chris Kreider into the 2.75-3mil range so most of Brassard's former salary goes towards that.

If Del Zotto can't be moved, I'd tender him. Moore can be re-signed for a slight pay raise, probably a bridge contract 3 year-$1.2 mil range. Ideally Falk would be gone with McIlrath taking his place on the pro roster next year, but I do really like Falk and would keep him if he could fit

DEFINITELY cut ties with: Pyatt, Pouliot, D. Moore, Wilson, Mashinter, Bourque, Asham, Haley
and MAYBE Boyle, Zuccarello and Stralman, depending on what they're looking for/how much cap space is left after re-signing Callahan, Girardi, Lundqvist.

In an ideal world, with Del Zotto off the payroll, I BELIEVE you could re-sign Callahan and Girardi for deals in the 6mil/per range, give Hank a boost to 8.5mil/per and fit that under the cap. Especially if you're not bringing back Boyle and Stralman too. Maybe MZA would re-sign for about the same amount of money on a 2 year deal. If MZA isn't available, I'd attempt to sign Linus Omark for something like 800k. Similar type of player who has spent a lot of his career in the minors entirely because of how front-loaded Edmonton is. I think he could make an impact in the right situation.

Guys with last names beginning with (B,D,P) should hit the road. Really wanted Brassard to succeed but so far haven't got that sense he is evolving. Would like to give Mashinter some more time.

Resign Cally for under 6m/4.

Jettison Girardi if he wants anything over 5per.

Don't know what to do with Brass.

Hopefully DZ is traded by the deadline.

As for Hank, a 5 year deal with a cap of 7.5 would make me very happy:

The salary cap will not be $64.3 again. Its going to be closer to $70.

So with the cap going up and Richards being bought out the Rangers will have close to $45 million in cap space.

I would seriously consider letting Callahan/Girardi walk depending on what they want. I like Callahan, but I wouldn't pay over $5M for him.

It all depends on their playoff performance. If they underachieve, let them walk.

I really want Stralman resigned.

Girardi if he takes under 5 mill. Anything more and bye bye.

Cally if he takes 5.5 mill or under.

Hank to 8 mill.

Incredibly on the fence about Brass. Has been having a few good games lately. But he's been disappointing this season.

Boyle I'd like to resign at 3 years 2 mill per.

D. Moore I'm not sure about, a prospect could probably take his spot.

Del Zotto is probably gone by the deadline.

Keep Bickel, Johnson, and Haley on two way deals.

Keep Syvret on an AHL deal.

Apologies, kind of took a stab in the dark on that one. Where would you say the cap would be approximately for next year?

From the reports I've read, between $69-71 is a fair range. It all depends on if the big market teams make the playoffs and how far they make it. I think the Canadian TV broadcasting rights are up for bidding this season but that will reflect is the cap in two seasons.

Really hope Sather & Co. take a tough stance with Girardi, Callahan and Lundqvist. They will be able to command a lot on the open market. I wish them all to be career Rangers but you just can't let yourself overpay them.

I also really like Stralman. He's stepped up his game in the playoffs twice now. He's someone you want on your team in April.

I think management better make that decision before the trade deadline...that is just too much to let walk for nothing . Make them an offer salary wise and let them decide by such a date ...if they take it fine...if not...trade for picks and or prospects . We can't keep everybody and we can't pay like we did before the cap...it's a new era and thinking has to change in management and with us the fans . If you think team short term...be prepared for a very bad team long term .

Do you want to play without a bottom-6?

Man I agree. If they expect the rags. to over pay, we could own the 2014 draft. Don't really want to but you are right. Not everybody is a 6-8 million player including Richards. If that does happen then expect a rebuild coming.

If either Callahan or Girardi walk at the end of the year, management should be shot.

They are either gone at the deadline for quality assets, or re-signed.

There is no "let them walk."

Lovely idea this trading away upcoming UFA's for picks.
First, what team can afford their cap hits when sending us back these coveted draft picks we are getting?
Second and more importantly who plays in their place ?
Are the Rangers just going to toss any player they have in their place ?

Trading Callahan, Girardi, Henke etc is a great way to start a fire sale, had not heard that is the new plan for this season.

This whole notion of trading all of our players that are to-be UFAs for prospects and draft picks is asinine. We're going to be in the playoff hunt come the trade deadline, and we're going to be competing for the Cup. I understand we don't want to lose these guys for nothing, but the whole goal of the season is to compete and win the cup, not have the most potential NHL'ers/prospects. All 3 will be here at and after the deadline. Callahan is or captain, heart and soul of the team. Girardi is our only top-2 RHD. Hank is well..Hank. He's going to be the reason we win anything.

I'll be pissed if Hank and Callahan aren't re-signed. I'd like G back, but if he's demanding too much, then it's fine to let him go, but we need him for the playoffs.

I'd also be wary about the consequences of high roster turnover. As we've seen already, AV's system isn't the easiest to learn.

MAYBE Boyle, Zuccarello and Stralman, depending on what they're looking for/how much cap space is left after re-signing Callahan, Girardi, Lundqvist.

The way Stralman and Boyle are playing this year there is absolutely no way they should be moved. I would love to keep Mats but only at a cheap price, he is a great assist maker but his size always worries me when playing big and tough teams.

Also, no way does Girardi deserve anywhere close to 6 mil. He is good but he is already on the decline. McDonagh is our premier defenseman, none of our D should make more than what he is getting.

Realistically with the cap going up AND this market being NY, Henrink's gonna get like $8.75, Cally's gonna get $6.16 or something like that, Girardi will get $5.25, and Stralman like $3.5.

Kreider won't get much though as he isn't arb eligible.

Brassard will get like $4.15 because he is Arb eligible.

The salary cap will not be $64.3 again. Its going to be closer to $70.

So with the cap going up and Richards being bought out the Rangers will have close to $45 million in cap space.

So what you're saying is, this man is going to have almost $45 million in cap space to spend?
