What lines do you want to see this year?

I would prefer seeing nelson at centre than at wing. The way he played in the ahl last season, i dont think many things can faze that guy.

first half:

Moulson - Tavares - Bailey
Bouchard - Nielsen - Okposo
Grabner - Nelson - Regin (CC)
Martin - Cizikas - McDonald

Visnovsky - Strait
Donovan - Hamonic
Reinhart - MacDonald

In the second half i hope we can replace Bouchard with Strome, and swap Bailey and Strome and voila! If Lee looks good trade Moulson at the trade deadline and call lee up.

correct me if i'm wrong, but i think we had nelson at center for most of training camp. i assume he's playing wing now more because of our current depth chart than because the organization thinks he can't handle center in the NHL yet.

I believe you are right, at least for the first part of training camp. I think they want Nelson to get comfortable with the NHL and get used to the speed before transitioning to center before the end of the season. If he is successful at center I think our team becomes a lot tougher to play against.

Watching the TOR/MTL & WPG/EDM games.....is it just me, or is it harder watching puck when it matter even more.....when the Isles are playing?!?

Simple - First week+:

Moulson - Tavares - Bailey
Grabner - Nielsen - Okposo
Nelson - Regin - PMB
Martin - Cizikas - McDonald
13th: Boulton

MacDonald - Hamonic
Reinhart - Visnovsky
Strait - Donovan
7/8: Hickey/Carkner

When Clutterbuck comes back:

Moulson - Tavares - Bailey
Grabner - Nielsen - Okposo
PMB - Nelson - Clutterbuck
Martin - Cizikas - McDonald
13th: Regin (Boulton sent to BP)

MacDonald - Hamonic
Reinhart - Visnovsky
Strait - Donovan
7/8: Hickey/Carkner

By season end:

Moulson - Tavares - Strome
Bailey - Nelson - Okposo
Grabner - Nielsen - Clutterbuck
Martin - Cizikas - McDonald
13th: Regin (PMB either on IR or trade bait)

MacDonald - Hamonic
Reinhart - Visnovsky
Strait - Donovan
7/8: Hickey/Carkner

Add in a potential 1st or 2nd+ for Ryan Miller if need be...

nelson plays centre on the prospect line, seems to slot in on wing when playing with vets.

Barring any hiccups today/tomorrow, here are your likeliest opening night #Isles lines: 26-91-21, 40-51-12, 29-16-96, 17-53-13.

Nelson has 1 NHL game under his belt. Starting him off on the wing with less responsibilities is the better way to break him in. If he continues to impress as he's done, I think he'll eventually be moved to center. His versatility is a major plus. If Regin gets thrown out of the faceoff circle, Nelson can step in.

The Islanders have announced there 23 starters for opening night. What lines do you want to see or think you will see.

Here are the 23 players:

Forwards
Josh Bailey
Pierre-Marc Bouchard
Eric Boulton
Casey Cizikas
Michael Grabner
Matt Martin
Colin McDonald
Matt Moulson
Brock Nelson
Frans Nielsen
Kyle Okposo
Peter Regin
John Tavares

Defensemen
Matt Carkner
Matt Donovan
Travis Hamonic
Thomas Hickey
Andrew MacDonald
Griffin Reinhart
Brian Strait
Lubomir Visnovsky

Goalies
Evgeni Nabokov
Kevin Poulin

Injured Reserve
Cal Clutterbuck

a good team should be changing there lines when needed. SO to me any line that works for that game is what i want. setting lines in stone makes little sense to me.

This surprises me a bit, but I don't mind the lines. I think the Isles have a lot of flexibility with these players. Moulson's the only one that you need to shelter a bit, since he's so bad defensively. Grabner's been a much better player and easier to play with than his first year. I love the all-new-3rd line, good balance of passers, defensive play, vets and a big rookie who will play hard and drive the net.

I'd love to see a Nelson-Tavares-Bailey line at some point. Not necessarily game one.

switch Regin with cizikas and those are the lines I suggested earlier in the thread. doubt my defense pairing get used though....lol.

oh well I screamed all year for cizikas to play third line center over aucoin last year, I'm prepared to do it again this year with Cizikas over Regin

Fwiw. nelson will work way better on the right wing and bouchatd is a better left wing. not that it won't or can't change or staple could have that incorrect to begin with
