What Kind of dawg is this?

I'm trying to figure out what the breed(s) my girlfriend's dog. She's convinced that he's 100 percent American Cocker Spaniel, but after looking at pictures, I'm not convinced that's entirely true. Any ideas on what breed or breeds he is?

It was a mutt, but she said it was part Portuguese Water Dog. Never could figure out the rest of it. Good dog, though.

I guess if you took an American Cocker Spaniel and tried to make it as cute as possible (not a walking tent) it would end up looking something like that. The white patch on the chest is very common.

Yes, look like or part of a Prtuguese Water Dog. Was interested in getting one until
I found out their hair is oily, thus the water dog part.

She said her family bought him from people on the side of the road selling puppies but has documentation that he's American cocker. But I guess he has some Portuguese water dawg admixture. Thanks.
