I cannot stand Valiquette. He comes across as wildly forced. Anson Carter stinks too.
Agreed on Valiquette. He comes off as a prep-school movie villain sometimes.

Fans, anecdotally, are idiots though.People are always telling me that we're one of the top organizations and well respected. I know a lot of people who follow other teams and nobody ****ing thinks that.![]()
So our prestige is that we existed when there were six teams? The Rangers have tradition and nostalgia on their side thanks to being an original 6 franchise. Whether earned or not, that alone creates an allure about the Rangers being a "top" or "first-class" organization. I really haven't seen, well, ANYBODY, talk about the Rangers as a top franchise in terms of their performance on the ice. With 1 championship in 80 years, it'd be absurd to do so...
...but not nearly as absurd as comparing the Rangers to the Knicks in terms of awfulness.
This would mean more if it was toilet paper because then at least I could literally wipe my ass with it.Fans, anecdotally, are idiots though.
The Rangers are a premiere organization in the NHL because of the city they play in, playing at MSG and being one of the oldest with the most history. The Rangers are always featured a ton on nationally broadcast games, even when they're not good. If you ask random people to name some NHL teams, the New York Rangers are going to be one of the first out of most people's mouths.
I think the pain and suffering they're caused you (and all of us diehards really) have kind of caused you to overlook some of this plain stuff.
And the Rangers are one of the most respected by players for how they're treated. Everyone talks about the Rangers sparing no expense and being top notch and first class in all aspects from a player side. That's what people mean when they say top organizations and most well respected.
So our prestige is that we existed when there were six teams?
And spent that time winning nothing which is statically almost impossible?
Kinda sums up my point, don't it?
Didn’t you switch to being a Sharks fan like two years ago? Why did you come back? This would mean more if it was toilet paper because then at least I could literally wipe my ass with it.

Not really, particularly because I think the Rangers have been mostly competitive during their existence.
If you want to play a zero-sum game just involving championships, yeah, the Rangers consistently have not been able to establish themselves as the best team in the league.
But to put the on the same plane as the Knicks, an embarrassment at every level for two decades now, does nothing to support your point. I think "man, it sucks the Rangers have been a mediocre franchise for all these decades" is a sentiment most fans share. I think constantly putting forth a message that the Rangers are the worst thing ever and your state of being suffers because you have to watch them is....hyperbole.
I had a Sharks bandwagon playoff avatar because I have friends who are Sharks fans.Didn’t you switch to being a Sharks fan like two years ago? Why did you come back?
“Hysteria”Well, there it is...

Typical HF hysteria.
Yes. That is a correct thing that you just said.“Hysteria”
You’re in a constant state of whining online about your sports team’s lack of championships
There’s 30 other teams you could root for that would probably stress you out less
If you wanna support the Rangers, that's fine. I'm guilty as charged.
I'm just sick of hearing about our history, prestige, standards, and God forbid success. We have none of those things.

Liverpool won more championships between 1977 and 1984 than the Rangers have since 1926.Oh the sweet irony of watching a Liverpool fan make this stance. If you became a Liverpool fan before 2017 you'd prob have a different view.
It's always "at least we're not the Senators/Oilers!"
When that's the bar, that tells you where your franchise is at.
This is the thing I never get about fans talking about success/lack of success in an era before you were born. Does it affect your quality of life in any way?Liverpool won more championships between 1977 and 1984 than the Rangers have since 1926.
How dare you even mention them in the same breath.
Again, Im not really sure where you're hearing this. We've both been on this board a long time and its a curmudgeon-fest.
Perhaps you are pumping up this angle in your head to justify the sad existence of being able to find no joy in watching a professional sports team unless they're winning championships hand over fist.
That’s what you took from what I said? It’s not worth arguing about but I’ll stand by my statement that the organization is top 1/3 in the sport in terms of management and success. Again, not satisfied, but I think they are well run.

I've accomplished more than the Rangers. You don’t get to 100,000+ HF board posts unless you can somehow someway attempt to deflect the narrative that the Rangers suck as much as the Knicks which was his original premise and which was effectively debunked, to a newer more absurd one that the Rangers suck because they haven’t won enough Cups.
It was a nice try on Machines part part but this ridiculous statement of his would I believe the saying goes “ mean more if it was toilet paper so I could than wipe my ass on it” seems quite apropos here...lol
Yeah, lack of historic success improves quality of life by giving people something utterly insignificant to complain about. This is the thing I never get about fans talking about success/lack of success in an era before you were born. Does it affect your quality of life in any way?
