If Poti was smaller it might’ve been a little better but he was a big boy adverse to contact. I can buy small offensive guy whose not very physical. It also didn’t help that they dealt a gritty young forward for a big defenseman who was allergic to contact.
He was 6'3, 210. Ugh.

lol...you seriously going here Machinehead? Tell ya what for shits and giggles, I'll give you some "footage" about why it's absolute blasphemy that you think the Rangers suck almost as much as the Knicks.

We'll use the last 20 years as a comparitor with both franchises seeing that was the last time the Knicks were actually good enough to win a few playoff rounds as they made it the finals where they obviously lost to the Spurs. Anyways, here we go:

The Knicks in past 20 years have made it to the playoffs 6 times in the past 20 years ZERO times in the past 6 years and have only won more than 40 games in the regular season TWICE in that same time period which is an astounding level of suckage that they have been over the years.

The team you say is almost as sucky as the Knicks, our Rangers have made it to the playoffs 13 times in that same time span and only have missed the playoffs 7 times. If you look at the playoff appearances the Rangers made after the "Dark Ages" ended in 2004, the Rangers have made the playoffs 11 times in 14 years and that counts the past two seasons since the rebuild started.

Oh and just so we compare fairly, the Rangers during the regular season the past 20 year unlike the Knicks who won over 40 games just twice, the Rangers have won over 40 games TEN times and that doesn't count the lockout season where the Rangers would have won over 40.

I really don't need to go on. If you seriously think that the Rangers franchise is almost as pathetic as the Knicks, I'd argue that you either have not watched the Knicks play the past 5-6 years or you are simply blind to the facts and that you are simply wrong!.

Rangers blow away the Knicks in every facet an organization can...there's your "footage" hoss!...:naughty::nod:

Ok maybe I was being harsh saying they're as bad as the Knicks, but I think it's just as off to say the Rangers are one of the top franchises and are well respected around the league.

If you're looking at a span of 20-30 years, the "top franchises" have multiple championships. Full stop. End of discussion. Nobody cares that the Rangers are an also-ran "get to the second round" team.

Sure, the Rangers are respected amongst players, coaches, executives, and owners; those who have money or can benefit from their money. That does about as much for me as a soup sandwich. Amongst fans, which the sphere where I exist, the Rangers are as respected around the league as slow walkers are respected in subway stations.

Dude the only reason I even responded to your original post was because you ignorantly stated that the two teams are close in suckage and I showed you how wrong you are. You are not just maybe being harsh in saying the Rangers are as bad as the Knicks, you are now showing that you simply don't want to look at facts and you want to continue this ridiculous narrative of yours.

Now your going to try and change the narrative now and say because the Rangers don't have multiple championships, they simply don't aren't respected by other fan bases around the league? Are you serious?

I've been as voracious a reader and contributer at times on other teams boards including some of our rivals like the Caps, Debbies, Penguins for example and trust me, none of those teams took us lightly or thought we sucked when we were making the playoffs every year for a decades before the rebuild commenced.

And guess what, some of these same fan bases who you say you only care what they think, actually think we don't suck and are actually a bit concerned at potentially how good we might end up being in a few short seasons. I don't think anyone is saying that about the Knicks...hah

None of these fan bases didn't respect us either because we didn't have multipe Cups. I mean it's absurd what your saying. Most of these fans respected how hard our team worked seeing we never had a superstar other than Hank and he would usually be carrying the team on his back.

So please don't even go there. Bottom line, the Rangers organization UNLIKE the Knicks organization is very well respected around the league and is considered one of the top franchises in hockey. I mean shit before the rebuild two years ago, other than LA, Chicago and Pittsburgh, what other team had more success both regular and playoff than the Rangers did?

Your answer? NO ONE ELSE. And you know what, even tho we didn't win a Cup during this time period which was frustrating no doubt considering how close we came on a few occasions, it was as much fun as I've had as a Ranger fan in my 45-50 years living and dying with this team of ours.

So please spare me that due to no Cup, as you say the Rangers are as respected around the league as slow walkers are respected in subway stations.

That be bullshit and disingenuous at best. Ask any Knick fan how much fun they've had in the past 10-20 years and see if they've had as much fun as us Ranger fans. I guess with your mindset, you'll probably be surprised by their answers...lol

If the Yankees folded, 29 MLB fanbases would be in therapy because they wouldn't know what to with the hole in their lives.

If the Rangers folded, 30 NHL fanbases would forget about them in two weeks.

It’s not harsh. It’s ridiculous. Yea, we’d all love to have 2-3 Cups the last 10 years , but the Rangers were a competitive team year in and year out for how long? The Knicks are a travesty. I’m not embarrassed to be a Ranger fan.

You’re counter argument is that they didn’t win a title so they’re a joke? Yea, no. Were the Jazz with Stockton and Malone a joke? They were in it year after year just like the Rangers but couldn’t get over the hump.

Must be nice :dunno:

It means we're kind of insignificant.

I think Rangers fans overrate how much people actually care about the Rangers.
Maybe it's just my personality? I don't care about a single team that I don't follow and am not a fan of. I assume others don't either for the most part.

If the Yankees, Penguins, Patriots, etc folded I'd be confused and/or interested as to how or why because that's a crazy hypothetical, but I wouldn't care much beyond that.

People are always telling me that we're one of the top organizations and well respected. I know a lot of people who follow other teams and nobody f***ing thinks that.

I don't think there's much that hasn't already been said, but here goes anyway:

-Messier leaving for Vancouver and then having the gall to come back for a second stint tarnished his Rangers legacy

-Tom Renney was/is the best coach the Rangers have had in the past 30 years

-The Rangers were right to not bring back Jagr/Nylander when they were out of contract

-Not really unpopular, but the salary cap saved Glen Sather's career

-For every good decision Gorton has made, he's made a bad one. It will be interesting to look back in 5 years and see where the team is then and how they got to that point

-I would still do the Keith Yandle trade 10/10 times even knowing what Duclair ended up becoming. It's not Gorton's/Sather's fault that AV was a knob that didn't know how to use him properly

You’re embarrassed to root for the Rangers? I don’t get that at all. Would it be more fun to be a Bruin/Hawks fan? Sure... but we aren’t talking about the 90’s Sens here. The last 10-15 years I think they’re top 1/3 in the league. I’m not saying I’m satisfied but I’m far from embarrassed.
It's always "at least we're not the Senators/Oilers!"

When that's the bar, that tells you where your franchise is at.

Obviousy you are 1000% correctumundo as you and I and most sane people are on same wave length as it's patently absurd what Machineman is trying to say that we suck as much as the Knicks. What's humorous is when I pointed out how ridiculous his comments were by bringing up facts, he than changes the narrative to that Rangers apparently suck as much as the Knicks and get this "aren't respected by the players in the league" because we haven't won more than one Cup. I mean you can't make shit like this up.

You know how some peeps just like to say shit to hear themselves speak withought even thinking about how absurd what they are saying is? Well this is case in point and perfect example. For anyone to think or say that the Rangers are as bad as the Knicks as Machinehead stated, I'd argue has no clue about what suckage truly is and probably has never watched a Knick game the past 20 years or even knows who or has ever seen Joakim Noah play for them....case closed...lol

The Rangers have tradition and nostalgia on their side thanks to being an original 6 franchise. Whether earned or not, that alone creates an allure about the Rangers being a "top" or "first-class" organization. I really haven't seen, well, ANYBODY, talk about the Rangers as a top franchise in terms of their performance on the ice. With 1 championship in 80 years, it'd be absurd to do so...

...but not nearly as absurd as comparing the Rangers to the Knicks in terms of awfulness.
