Okay, bear with me cause I have very poor social skills and I'm learning that the hard way I think. Anyway, I have a question, fake it until make it. Is that when you come up with random BS for the sake of having a conversation?

If you can act confident, people will pick up on it and believe you're confident. Then, eventually, you won't be acting confident, you'll be confident.

Don't forget that you're going to be your own worst critic. So overcoming that voice in your head is part of the "faking it" part.

It's a Minecraft saying. You pretend you have diamond tools before you have them to look cool among your friends until you've actually dug down far enough to find them and actually make diamond tools.

Ok, so I guess what I'm trying to figure out is how to BS people with confidence.

I wouldn't say you're trying to BS people. It's more about convincing yourself than anyone else.

It's not as simple as "just be confident in yourself", because your inner monologue is probably filled with doubts and hesitation.

We all have our own negative thoughts that we can't easily ignore, but they're just that, your own internal thoughts that no one else knows about.

How you deal with those negative thoughts will affect your outward appearance, and is the difference between someone who seems confident and someone who seems timid or unsure.

For example, if I'm frustrated with a problem at work, I would still want to carry myself in a confident manner, rather than getting into a flustered and defeated mindset. As a result, it appears to other people that I'm in control of the situation.

(Idk, maybe I'm way off base. Multiple ways to interpret it.)
