First let me say I am one of the people who think this season is a wash and that picking up a top 5 pick in this draft is the way to go.

But, Say Kadri is on a roll in his rookie season 20 games in he's on pace for 32 points because bozak goes down and he's really gelling with Kessel. Basically he looks like a good future #1 center.

We're out of the playoffs by 6 and out of a top 5 pick by 4. Would you rather see the team but at the deadline to end the playoff less streak. Or would you rather take the pain this season, sell off some contracts and finish anywhere from 2nd-5th last in the standings and smile all the way to the draft?

Personally I don't know what I'd want. If Kadri somehow did show he was #1 center material does that mean all we need is a #1g? But still picking up someone with huge potential like MacKinnon Barkov or Druin is never bad. I'm leanin towards top 5 pick but its honestly a toss up.

LOL I said sell... I ment buy!

I would love to make the playoffs, just as big **** you to everyone who said it wasn't going to be possible.

Totally depends on who we get to make the playoffs.

IF get a goalie but Bozak is still the #1C in March, then I think it's top 5 pick no question.

If we get a young stud center then it's playoffs no question.

It depends who we sell? I wouldn't sell Kadri. As a matter of fact I'm keeping Kadri until he gets to UFA status even if it looks like he won't pan out. I'm not gambling on losing a potential future star.

Definitely top 5 this year. Anyone that thinks the Leafs will win the cup this year is not thinking straight.

The upcoming draft is a C heavy top 5, which is a position that the Leafs need filled.

Finishing top 5 can only help in the long run.

So we are going to finish top 5 or have no contest in the playoffs?

Right now, I don't even care which result happens. I just want it to be definitive. Ifwe make the playoffs and compete a little, or tank hard and get top 5, I'll be happy. It's the in-between, limping our way to 10th place that would be painful.

what do u mean no contest? go into the first round and completely get blown out without any effort ? 2 really dumb options. playoffs for sure though, this team needs experience.

Give me a lottery pick and do a proper rebuild. Leafs Nation has already endured 45+years without the cup and 7 years of recent mediocrity...whats another few years of waiting and doing it right? Mackinnon/Jones/Lindholm/Barkov would be a great addition to our other young players.

I dont think we do much of anything unless we're clearly out of it. If were in, or close like last season, I see it being like last deadline (sideways deals). If were out, wholesale selling.

I am a perfect 50/50 split this season. We make playoffs then sweet! (habs and sens fans will still find a way to insult us) if we don't then we have a good chance at a high draft pick. We come out as winners either way.:yo:
