What if quebec would have it‘s own national team

People from Quebec complain a lot about the absence of their players on team Canada and therefore they decided to become independet (atleast for the IIHF).
I reckon they‘d be in the top division easily for the Mens WC and the u18 and u20 WJC. What would a quebec only team look like for the WJC or WC?
Would they beat the likes of Finland or Czechia or awould they be in the Germany, Switzerland tier.
Of course if this were to happen the IIHF eligibility rules would apply to them so the players needs to have the passport and must have played 2 seasons in quebec so brendan lemieux for example wouldn‘t qualify unless he‘s played there 2 years that aren‘t tracked on EP despite being of québecois heritage.
And i know this hypothetical could be made for any province but it is a bit more realistic with quebec since they are the only ones that complain about non inclusion in hockey and are culturally more different to other provinces due to language.

Assuming all the Quebec-born players would represent Team Quebec, they would be just behind Czechia/Finland and slightly better than either Germany or Switzerland due to more depth. #6 without russia.

But definitely occasional medal contenders even best on best.

That would be question if the talent would represent them but if they all would i‘d say the same thing as you. It would be interesting if those players would want to show up more or less to the WC than canadians and americans want to at the moment. If it turns out the same way their WC teams would probably mostly be fringe NHL players and AHL players which would be more near the Germany Switzerland tier

Even the US struggles against the likes of Slovakia and Latvia in the World Champs, so Quebec would fall more to that tier rather than Switzerland/Germany.

NHL scrubs do not fare well in Europe outside of their usual roles.

People can fill out the bottom 6 and bottom pair as they wish out of Active NHL Players Born in Quebec ‑ All-Time Stats Leaders

But the top 6+4+Gs likely goes something like

Huberdeau-Lafreniere-Marchessault
Dubois-Danault-Duclair/Mantha

Chabot-Letang
Matheson-Girard

Fleury
Montembeault
(Levi when Fleury retires)
My first thought is how much better this lineup would have looked three years ago. Some of these guys have fallen on hard times as of late.

A very optimistic 2025 IIHF World Championships roster would be something like:

Jonathan Huberdeau - Jonathan Marchessault - Anthony Duclair
Zachary L'Heureux - Yanni Gourde - Anthony Beauvillier
Jakob Pelletier - Zachary Bolduc - Mathieu Joseph
Nicolas Deslauriers - Benoit-Olivier Groulx - Samuel Poulin
Alex Belzile

Thomas Chabot - Kris Letang
Mike Matheson - Alexandre Carrier
Jérémy Lauzon - David Savard
Pierre-Olivier Joseph - Maveric Lamoreux
Charles-Édouard D'Astous

Sam Montembault
Antoine Bibeau
Maxime Lagacé

Did you assume NHL playoffs or just the best you could come up with?

Naturally excluding players that are likely to make the NHL/AHL playoffs. Realistically there would be significantly more Europe-based players given that there's not much NHL depth to speak of.

In goal besides Montembeault their options would be Bibeau (KooKoo, FIN) and Lagacé (Färjestad, SWE), after that perhaps Harvey (Bozen, ITA).

LHD there's Hinds in San Diego, besides that European options like D'Astous (Brynäs, SWE), Breton (Ingolstadt, GER), Gilmour (Mannheim, GER), Groleau (Färjestad, SWE). RHD Grégoire (Kloten, SUI) or Allard (Luleå, SWE).

Centermen Devos (Ajoie, SUI) and Audette (Kloten, SUI) or Beaudin (TPS, FIN) and Abbandonato (Jukurit, FIN). Fontaine (Eisbären, GER) and Aubry (Köln, GER).

Wingers Hudon in Ontario, in Europe Joly (Lugano, SUI), Hazen (Ajoie, SUI) and Grenier (Köln, GER) or Tardif (Kärpät, FIN), Marleau (HIFK, FIN), Nellis (Vítkovice, CZE). That's most of their pool besides anyone they manage to attract from the NHL which might not be two full lines.

Yeah the WC team would probably always have atleast 1 line euro players unless they take AHL Players over european ones. The list you gave looks pretty ok but not much more. There are definitley better NA Players in europe. I could see them choosing a player line caleb desnoyers this year to boost his draft stock like other nations do at such at the WC. In 2025 the roster would probably be good with the olympics next year assuming that this team qualified but without belarus and maybe russia they‘d be there for sure.
Back to your team as a swiss person i‘m fairly confident we‘d beat this team but it would be close of course

With some junior players and certainly the most dominant ones that come in question it's also so that the playoffs haven't quite finished before the World Championships begin, so a top team like Moncton (Desnoyers) may well still be playing.
