Leafs LW isn't that great in general. I think so far Kerfoot and Bunting have solidified roles in the LW. But Engvall and Ritchie have been questionable. He probably switches in for Engvall. Wouldn't mind seeing Mikheyev get a long look in the top 6. He's asked for it. Lets see if he can do it. Not like Mikheyev over Bunting would cause some huge issue.
trade him in a package deal with Holl if we're lucky

I am so shocked at how many Engvall fans there are. All you have to do is look at any thread featuring a potential 13th forward (Ritchie, Clifford, Mikheyev, etc.) and you'll find Engvall fans.

::mind blown gif::

One could only dream ……..;);)

They'll tinker. He'll probably spend time up and down the lineup. He's had success with Tavares before. He could also be a fit on that 3rd line in Engvall's spot.

I would like to see:

Kerfoot - Matthews - Marner
Mikheyev - Tavares - Nylander
Engvall - Kampf - Kase
Bunting - Spezza - Ritchie/Simmonds

Surprised we haven't seen Kerfoot beside Matthews yet. The only thing he doesn't give you is the net front presence, but he 's got wheels, he's a hard forecheker, and he's smart. He'll try to setup a play instead of just blasting a weak shot from distance for a turnover.

They have won 5 in a row and 10 of their last 11, I see no legitimate argument as to why he deserves to go back in.

Sure there are players I don't like, Engvall and Ritchie being 2 of them, although I WANT to like Ritchie but he REFUSES to give me a reason to.

But chemistry comes into this and right now there is no argument to put him back in.

Trade him, waive him, whatever. Barring injury it might cost a contributing player to put him back in the lineup. It's getting close to the time to consider moving Ritchie for a bag of pucks, I guess that could be done.

He is a very good defensive and transition player, and a very good forechecker and cycler, but yes with limited scoring acumen. Though he does have a heavy shot which is useful.

No no it's not "limited" scoring acumen it's non existent

But mikheyev do everything engvall do in a game and by far better offensive side...

Ritchie didn't have the best start but he bring physicality leafs don't have and we will need that kind of player during playoff.

Because mikheyev and engval play a similar game and mikheyev is a better player.

Mikheyev in
engvall out

Yeah I wouldn't argue too much.

Ritchie is the guy that probably deserves to be sat the most but he potentially brings elements that we need. Engvall may well be the one who sits and I won't cry about it. We have lots of good players.

JUST WAIT, as soon as Mikheyev is close all of a sudden a fire is lit under Engvall and he finishes checks and works harder.

Unless his job is threatened he mails it in. The ultimate in lazy player who has much more to give.
Just a body that won't hurt and won't help. Decent insurance for the playoffs.

Mikheyev will likely get a chance in the top 6 once his conditioning is there. He asked for a trade before the season started, based on being used in a defensive role last year.

The more this team plays the less reason I see to put him in. again I'm far from a Engval or Ritchie fan but the team is on fire they are as of this post tied for 1st in the NHL in points.

I don't expect that to last because the Panthers are probably beating Seattle tonight but that's not the point.

The point is that the fact that they are currently tied for 1st in the NHL in points shows how well they have played and shows the kind of chemistry they have going right now.

I don't know how he gets back in with the team clicking like it is.

Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Kerfoot-Tavares-Nylander
Mikheyev-Kampf-Kase
Ritchie-Spezza-Simmonds

While I like the first three lines I just think Engvall has earned the spot over Ritchie. He doesn’t take dumb penalties and is always solid defensively. I think Simmonds and Ritchie rotate in and out on the LW and Engvall takes the C with Spezza on RW duty.
