Cobra is pacing for 31 goals over an 82-game season.Soup will be replaced by the next Bunting.
Many were cautioning in the "trade 88?" thread and asking where were we ever going to find a guy who could replace his offense for 6.9? Mikheyev may be that player.
Speed: Cobra > 88
Drive: Cobra > 88
Physicality: Cobra > 88
Shot: Cobra < 88
Creativity: Cobra < 88
Passing: Cobra < 88
PP: Cobra < 88
PK: Cobra > 88
CAP: Cobra > 88
If I look at the above and then look at the cap hit, it's pretty clear Mikheyev should be extended and we all know it won't be for 6.9, or more.
Ilya Mikheyev is inclining as an NHL player. Where is his upside capped?
Would rather have him for all facets a player can bring to the table than a guy at 6.9 who has a very questionable motor?
Guessing many will say Cobra has done it for just a portion of a season and that is true, but he's not a guy easily replaced.
Will he get a Hyman deal on the market? If he does, then you have to let him go, if you aren't going to make big cuts elsewhere.
Not a Nylander dig post, just a juxtaposition to show Mikheyev, IMO, is incredibly undervalued by the fans in the market he plays in.
