He was 10+43=53 and +49 last year. Now he is 1+6=7 and +1 after 33 games. What happened to him?

In 2022-23 or in 2023-24? Because in 2022-23, he had a complete outlier season unlike anything he had ever done prior. In 2023-24, he came back down to earth.

He was never a high end point producer and last year was a career year/anomaly playing for the best regular season team ever.

This is all it is. It’s not like he’s playing bad. The points just aren’t there. He plays solid defense. He doesn’t make a tonne of mistakes. A couple more points would be nice. But I get it, for the money he makes, more is certainly expected.

He's never been an offensive dman
He has always been a great defensive player who could move the puck up ice but the stats may have been somewhat of a byproduct of the team Boston had

He is projected 17 points in full season. That's the worst pace in his NHL career.
It's early in the season. Last year, his point production was farther above his year-to-year average than this year is below it. In the end, it'll likely all even out and he'll end up in the neighbourhood of 30ish points. That said, his play hasn't really fallen off – he's just not producing at his usual clip. He's still a tremendously valuable player.

Ok. That was what I wanted to know and it's good for him he is the same player than before.

I would go find my post from the thread last year. Anyone expecting the offensive output will be really disappointed. That isn’t his game. Amazing defensemen but not an offensive force.

Last season he was shooting the puck more, regularly joining the rush and carrying the puck up the ice. This season he's not doing any of that. He's been much more conservative this season. I think he's also struggling with his skating.

McAvoy was healthy to start the year is what happened. He started last year as the PP1 QB, this year he flanks the blueline with Shattenkirk on PP2. He plays a full minute per game less on the PP with worse linemates.
How important is playing PP1 to PP2? Last season he had 18 PPP, this year he's on pace for 7.

Last season Lindholm had 3 different defense partners. McAvoy, Clifton, and Carlo. His on ice expected goals % was worst with Carlo. This year, he's been paired almost exclusively with Carlo.

Last year, the 5-on-5 on-ice shooting percentage of the Bruins was 9.6 with Lindholm on the ice. This year is 7.2.

Last year, he had a point on 43% of the goals that were scored when he was on the ice 5-on-5. This year, it's 22%.

Usage and team systems play a big part.

He’s been fine, offensive production will come. Not to last years levels (I think he peaked last year) but it’s not like he is handling the puck like a grenade out there

He’s still an absolute workhorse. Only thing I find fault with in his game is his propensity to take unnecessary minor penalties. He’s weird he’s both physical and not physical at the same time. He doesn’t really throw any punishing hits but is always making contact with people. Definitely hard to play against if you’re a forward in the offensive end

Of note, Lindholm + Carlo is used verrrry differently than Lindholm/McAvoy or Lindholm/Clifton

Yup. He had a massive hot streak to start the season as he was put into McAvoy’s spots when the team as a whole likely played the best I’ve ever seen them play in my life.

He's injured and slumping right now. Things will even out and he should get ~30 points.

22/23 was a complete outlier, he's not a guy who will get you 40-50 points yearly. 25-30 points, munchin top pairing minutes, while being absolutely elite defensively is his role. Still an absolute beast.

Agreed 100 percent. I think the foot injury from last year has been nagging at him.

It’s funny that this thread came up the day after he arguably played his best game of the season.

He just hasn’t been himself this season. Looks a lot slower imo.
