About $3.50 i think.

But actually, probably nothing. It's been established that there's some sort of deal worked out with Bauer for all these sponsored athletes, and Dave.
Gotcha, better question would have been how much is the artist paid for each mask. Sounds like they possibly have him on some kind of retainer though?

I would assume so. But i don't think anybody here really knows exactly how that whole deal works.

It's just...almost every single Bauer mask guy, ends up with a Dave mask. Doubt that's a coincidence. 🤷‍♀️

Goaltenders have masks for themselves, not for the TV audience. They aren't designed to look good from the stands, or on TV, they are designed for the goalie himself. They feature what he likes, the details he wants and the stuff he thinks is cool.

This doesn't sit well with a lot of people here, but that's the simple truth.

Every year people whine and complain about DaveArt, as if he is forcing these goaltenders to use the masks he designs, and he's forcing them to incorporate different paint techniques, effects and features.

That's not at all how it works. The players always have a discussion, usually on a Zoom call, about the things they like and want on the mask, there's a back and forth, sketches are exchanged and signed off on, and in most cases, the goaltenders are citing existing masks from other goalies that they like or details or effects they want incorporated.

The silly narrative that DaveArt has some sort of exclusive contract and goalies are "forced" to use him is utter nonsense.

Jonathan Quick’s new mask is one of the few that reminds me of the old 90s style masks

Ok that’s sick, nice job Quick.

This may be one of these few ones where the publicity is worth it- I assume plenty of colleges, junior goalies, rich kids, etc. want your services if you get a mask in the NHL.

No one says they’re forced, it’s more that their ideas often make shitty art. Sounds like Dave is probably great at working with ‘em and is obviously known- it’s the easy choice, but so is art from Walmart. I think the idea is that maybe you want an artist who has enough of a backbone to say “nah, here’s the concept. It’ll be sick,” instead of “sure, I’ll incorporate all your favorite things”.

Actually, I've seen multiple people claim they are "forced" to use DaveArt as their mask painter. There will be claiming that you can't have a Bauer mask and not have Dave as the artist, which is categorically false.

People here cleverly claiming I am, in fact Dave seem to be missing the point. I'm not defending him, nor do I think he does good work. All I'm saying is Dave is doing what his clients are asking him to do, so it's odd how much shit he gets.

The silly conspiracy theories about being forced to use him, or him having some sort of side-deal with Bauer, or with equipment guys, and goalies simply wearing the masks he paints is just childish and dumb.

Goaltenders are insanely particular about their gear, and I assure you, there is one one "lens flare" or ghosted logo or cartoon character on their masks that they don't want there.

Yea, but whether it is Quick, Shesty, or in the past, Hank, they are all paying tribute to the one mask that is so iconic for the franchise that all others are complete trash compared to it:

Even richter himself didn't stray too far for other versions:

Any Ranger goalie mask that doesn't pay homage to this classic is automatically not good in my opinion.

Dave is doing what his clients are requesting him to do but that doesn't negate that he is doing it in his hideous signature style. Yes they're customized and yes his style is unattractive (according to most).

A bad architect takes cues from his clients but is still responsible for building ugly houses.

The only thing that exonerates Dave is that his clients are lining up for his services. But in the endless DaveArt debate I think it is commonly accepted that the average goalie must have bad taste.

I love these from Price during international play. Especially the last two, so bad ass and clean at same time.
