I think Celebrini makes it over him if he continues to play the way that he has.

Dream scenario is they both light it up and make the team. 3 generations of Crosby/McDavid and those 2 would be so awesome to see.

This ties into my answer, “be better than Celebrini.”

The problem is that most of the guys you’d want to put on his line to do the heavy lifting defensively and on the boards to make his game remotely functional at that level of competition are also just flat out more impactful than him and should be the ones getting linemates to complement their games instead of the other way around.

Instead of forcing some combination of Wilson, Bennett, Konecny, Hagel, Jarvis with him on the 4th line to cover for the lack of defense and physicality, I’d rather just build a wrecking ball 4th line or speedy utility checking line around those guys and lean into their skill sets instead of making them babysit someone.

Yeah because MacKinnon and Bedard are so similar...
Is that what you read?

What I meant to type is that Bedard has more points in the same number of games in their first 2 years with what could be considered a weaker supporting cast.

My point being, Mackinnon didn't turn into a bust, and I think its remarkably early to call Bedard a bust as well.

bust relative to hype...

you're not including a very key piece of the puzzle, Bedard was hyped as the next generational talent in the line of Crosby and McDavid. MacKinnon wasnt.

You compared them, and I was just highlighting that they aren't remotely comparable stylistically. So Bedard being ahead of Mackinnon as a teenager has no bearing on where prime Bedard will be relative to prime Mackinnon.

Anyone who thinks Bedard is a bust isn't worth engaging with. It's pretty clear he's fallen short of expectations, but he's still a tremendously talented (though somewhat limited) offensive player who will be big time scorer in this league for the next 15 years.
