So, lived through the texas tundra. Went through a months worth of gas basically in a week. So been avoiding using the heater if and when at all possible. So the other night, set it to 62(turned on a couple times overnight I believe). So the next day, roomate comes down and talks about how cold it was. Mentioned "it feels nice right now", thermostat said 64. 2 degrees lol. Cooking some dinner right now, showing 72 currently. Waiting for him to come down and complain that it's hot.

Got electric heat and shitty insulation in my house. February was pretty cold here, good stretch where is didn't get above freezing. Kept the house between 62&64. Anything higher and the heat was constantly running. It's only me so I just put on a pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt and I'm fine.

i don't think my ac would turn off for 3 straight months if this was the rule

I've had summers where it basically was running for 2 to 3 months, at 72. Even in the northern hemisphere the humidity and direct sunlight can roast yer ass.

Yup
Many days my AC will struggle to keep up with 70. I'm on the 2nd floor of a 2 family and I had to run all my ductwork through the attic. The ducts are insulated but I think I should have sized up on the air handler. I put a ceiling fan in each of the 3 bedrooms and the kitchen, and they don't stop running through the summer months.
