Las Vegas
Led Zeppelin - Physical Grafiti
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
Boston - self titled
Bob Seger - Stranger in Town
ZZ Top - Tres Hombres
Waylon Jennings - Lonseome Onry and Mean
Hank Williams Jr - Family Tradition
Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
Otis Redding - Dock of the Bay
Joe Walsh - But Seriously Folks

Ideally I'd have more early Motown (Four Tops, Temptations, etc) but they really didnt do albums beyond compilations and those felt like cheating for this list.

My next oldest brother owned our household's collection of 1960s music (don't tell him I played them when he was away), so I omitted those albums & focused on my own popular music choices in the early to mid-1970s which one might describe as "eclectic" in their variety. Listed chronologically, and Top 10 based on the amount of vinyl wear & scratching ...

• Melanie - Gather Me (1971)
• Hawkwind - Space Ritual (1973)
• Maria Muldaur - Maria Muldaur (1973)
• Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells (1973)
• Lynyrd Skynyrd - (Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd) (1973)
• Yes - Yessongs (1973) [triple album that I count as one - all equally worn & scratched]
• Linda Ronstadt - Heart Like a Wheel (1974)
• Nektar - Down to Earth (1974)
• Pavlov's Dog - Pampered Menial (1974)
• Heart - Dreamboat Annie (1976)

been getting into the prog rock of the 70s in the past year so it's a little light there

a bit surprised that Miles Davis's classic Kind of Blue was recorded in the 50s, I sure Miles was going to show up here for me

also, reading the names of the albums that I have on here, it seems like I listen to a lot of sappy music lol

No particular order for either decade. The 1970s was insanely difficult to limit to ten, but this will have to do...

The list of bands to avoid seems random, but I guess it's stuff you're already familiar with. I tried to stay away from everything Beatles related, I hope that Yoko is acceptable :D

I love a lot of stuff from The Kinks, but I always feel the albums are kind of weak. Kept one, but it's mostly as a nod to their whole work.

In semi-order. The first 3 are absolute masterpieces.

Serge Gainsbourg – L'homme à tête de chou (1976)
Sonny Sharrock – Black Woman (1969)
Dreamies – Auralgraphic Entertainment (1974)
The Peter Brötzmann Octet – Machine Gun (1968)
The Residents – Meet the Residents (1974)
Harry Nilsson – Aerial Ballet (1968)
Serge Gainsbourg – Histoire de Melody Nelson (1971)
Alice Cooper – Killer (1971)
The Jazz Composer's Orchestra – The Jazz Composer's Orchestra (1968)
Alice Cooper – Love It to Death (1971)
Charles Mingus – Oh Yeah (1962)
The Mothers of Invention – Weasels Ripped My Flesh (1970)
Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band – Lick My Decals Off, Baby (1970)
Nina Simone – Pastel Blues (1965)
Smegma – Glamour Girl 1941 (1979)
Don Bradshaw-Leather – Distance Between Us (1972)
The Turtles – The Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands (1968)
Komeda Quintet – Astigmatic (1966)
Abdul Wadud – By Myself (1977)
Michael Siegel – The Sounds of the Junk Yard (1964)
Funkadelic – Maggot Brain (1971)
Karel Appel – Musique barbare (1963)
Otis Redding – Pain In My Heart (1964)
The Zombies – Begin Here (1965)

Ornette Coleman – Science Fiction (1972)
Le Quatuor de jazz libre du Québec - 1973 (1973)
Klaatu – Hope (1977)
The Kinks – Something Else (1967)

None of these bands and artists would make my top 10 list....

Anything by CCR, Simon and Garfunkel, or Janis Joplin.
I'd say anything from Poco, Humble Pie-"Smokin", Mott the Hoople-" Live". Gotta have a Zepplin in there, early Graham Parker, Curtis Mayfield- "Superfly" Skynyrd- "Street Survivros", early Dire Straits( 1st or 2nd release) any of the Fleetwood Mac (white album, rumors, or tusk). Tough to pick a 10th. Depends on my mood. For now I'll say Doors- "Absolutely Live"

I'd probably have 150 options for the 10th spot.

Not pointing it out to be edgy. Just don't like the assumption that these bands/artists would definitely be represented.

To say it is an acquired taste is being generous, it is probably a good option if you are trying to clear folks out at the end of a party
Especially effective when you stand on the table in your Alice Cooper makeup, your white robe on, a viking helmet on your head, gas can in hand and you screaming FIRE while skaking it down like Mick Jagger on a double dose of speed
