Boston fans:

no proposal yet, doing some homework before to see if there are any matches w/Rangers.

Ok if you want to suggest deals at your own risk, but in advance of that I'm just requesting idea on what you guys think...

what are your needs?
Specifics would be appreciated.

Expect that now that we know what the cap is this year and next, you can add that to your discussion, explaining how that shapes your observations.

Will review what everybody says and see if there is consensus or otherwise comment in a few days.

However, thanks to all in advance.

Fans to wait til the season starts before stating the "needs" of the team:)

Kiddin, the 3rd line hoopla has me headshaking, the majority of teams around the league would love to have this "issue".

What they need most is health

They could require some vet depth on D
They could require scoring help if Horty doesn`t produce

Other than that, I`ll revert back to my first sentence, gonna wait til the games actually begin

Pick your cancer:

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

UFAs Wade Redden and Scott Gomez are also likely to sign with teams today.

Scott Gomez at his worst is still better than Ray's kid

Kovalev would have been better too

Alexei Kovalev's one-year contract with FLA is worth $1M plus some GP bonuses. Signing today, will be on 23-man roster.

Imagine that, Kovalev in a Bruins jersey  I accepted Begin, Ryder, Pouliot, and whoever else I'm forgetting from recent years, but Kovalev is forever a Canadien to me, specifically for the way he torched Boston on the pp.

ok, in that case i propose we get good health from the Rags in return for...lemme see now....Krecji, a case of the flu sweeping through their lineup, and a 2nd.

D Depth / top 4 upgrade (ideally but just NHL quality would do).

Veteran scoring wing depth.

Maybe a cheap vet back up in case of emergency?

Gomez would be the absolute perfect 3rd line LW for this team. Put him with this leadership group and he would be a very good player IMO. That rumor is not true BTW of him shooting a puck at Julien.

IMO we need nothing until deadline ... sure we might want something but there is no need to panic

A combination of him leaving BU early and he hasn't produced at all during his NHL stints yet was given the 3rd line spot.

He hasn't been "given" anything. He's worked hard at Providence and been one of their best players, and word is he's working hard at camp too. And whether he produced in earlier NHL stints is irrelevant. It's what he's doing now that matters.

And so what if he left school early? College isn't for everyone. It would have been worse if he'd stayed and gone through the motions just because he was "supposed" to.

And for the record, whether it's Chris Bourque or Joe Rinkrat, I don't care. The name means nothing.

As for what the Bruins need, I think an MLT is perfect. You know, a mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe. :D
