I know of Pursuit of Excellence and Okanagan Hockey Academy in BC which are (from what I hear) about 20 grand for 1 season. Any others? Is Pursuit of Excellence better than the OHA? Thanks
Perhaps someone would be willing to explain what a Prep school does?
Does it teach normal school and have a hockey program? Perhaps they do other sports too?
What Grades and ages are the kids?
Who do prep schools play? do they have a season or do they just tour?
From what I know a prep school has the kids doing their school stuff mixed in with hockey throughout the day. The prep schools I know of are Bantam - Midget. I know the costs are about 20k a year. I can just imagine the costs of St Mary's prep school costs
Most of the good programs will let you know if you fit in. There are always some spots for the kids who will pay the full amount. .How do these prep schools work? Do you have to try out - make team - then pay up? I know one guy in POE and his parents fund raise before the start of the season to put him through the program

They do spaghetti suppers or simlar things to fundraise ? Or do they go hat in hand looking for sponsors? I would never give money in that situation. You want the cadillac service you pay for it because there are plenty of hockey development options around -find one in your budget. I'm not against helping a younger player who needs funds to play locally or even some younger rep teams.v
Have given money for figure skater in training because it costs a fortune and there are really no other options except to leave to get coaching.
I think ND is class of the bunch. Really need to checkout the academic side. A true prep school doesn't let kids do class by correspondence
They raffle off different items to raise money
Does Burnaby winter club count
Do you guys think a Prep School offers much of an advantage in terms of developing a player over just a regular Tier II or Tier I Rep Team?
Absolutely. The coaching is usually better but the amount of time they get on the ice is a huge difference.
