You guys know me on here, I am arguably 1 of the more pessimistic/cautiously optimist fans on here. But, after tonight and the fact that the boys FINALLY got that monkey off their back and won a playoff round, I feel a rejuvenated sense of optimism with this team. Now, obviously I don’t want them to lose to either Boston or Florida. But, it won’t sting as bad as another 1st round loss would have. Anybody else feel that way?

What I am trying to say is, my sense of optimism has been fully restored and IM BACK BABY!!! Let’s hope that this is the start of a magical playoff run.

LETS f***ING GO!!! GO LEAFS GO!!:thumbu::thumbu::thumbu::thumbu::thumbu::thumbu:

I don't think you're alone, feeling this way. If the Leafs lost this series - the Matthews era would've gone out with a whimper. All the worst case "scenarios" could potentially have come true.

1. Dubas firing + potentially Shanny going
2. Matthews leaving
3. One of Marner/Willy getting traded

The constant regret that we have potentially one of the best Leafs teams ever assembled, and couldn't even get past the 1st.

BUT IT DON'T MATTER ANYMORE! WE ARE MOVING ON TO ROUND TWO!

Couldn’t agree more.

I mean if they lose rd 2 it's still back to the drawing board and this era is a massive failure, but at least they've stil got a legit shot at doing some damage

But at least they made progress this year. That’s all I wanted.

On May 7th, 2023, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, John Tavares & William Nylander QUIT on the city of Toronto & on the logo.

It would have been easy to feel this way given they finally broke through and won any type of meaningless hockey in April. But did they really win? We saw a team outplayed, for the majority of the 5 games, only game 2 was their game, and Tampa was missing Hedman and Cernak. But they didn't show me any confidence in their game from G3-6, yes they won, but all metrics show they shouldn't have. The defence kept getting pressured and they couldn't generate consistent attacks in Ozone, they got lucky bounces to win their way through, credit to them for not giving up like they have in the past. But nothing i had seen in round 1 would suggest they had the team to get to the Final. Obviously there is still hope, but Keefe has tried so many different things, that's a tell tale that he is not happy with their game in any way. Florida was President's trophy winners last year, it's ironic;

Washington 2018 President's trophy (2019 Wins Cup)
Tampa Bay 2019 President's trophy (2020/2021 Wins Cup)
Colorado 2021 President's trophy (2022 Wins Cup)
Florida 2021 President's trophy (2023 ????)

Looks like Toronto needs that President's trophy first
