He’s still riding that 21-22 season hype, but it shouldn’t last long if his stats keeps this way. Good thing he wasn’t signed for a longer deal.

He still makes amazing saves frequently, his consistency is just gone and he tends to rattle and let goals in clusters which never used to be the case. That said, he had an infant right after the awards his Vezina year and now that kids about one, so with an 18 month at home myself, I wonder if it’s the life and relationship changes that come with your first kid that has him off his game.

Goalies are up and down year by year. Wasn't it last year that everyone was saying helle wasn't a top goalie anymore? Now look.

It's the hardest position to be consistently good at. Only the best of the best made it look easy. Shesty will be fine.

Springtime will determine if this year was a bust. He can save face when it truly matters. One thing is for sure, many people will be watching. Certainly, the king was much more consistent.

Sorry, I drafted him in fantasy hockey. That has been bad luck... I drafted 4, 3 are on IR and Shesterkin was earlier in the year and having a bad season.

Smaller goalies, less than 6'3-6'4 tend to have more inconsistencies. Athletism/reflex is too dependent on individual mental state.

First season in league players don't know his strengths and weaknesses. Then they adapt and word of mouth travels and now, as he cannot adapt he's performing poorly.

The best goalies are the ones who are solid everywhere with limited weakness. Versus some skater can be great at one thing and dominate.

It's been weird. He has been consistently great since entering the league. Something is going on right now and I hope he figures it out.

It's not about adapting to players/teams that scouted you. It's not about skill. He didn't suddenly forget how to play after having a baby, although he had some injuries (groin/lower body).

It's clearly confidence and metal with him. He's not challenging the shooter. He's not going down until the puck is in the net at times. He's not moving out of his crease much, helping out the defense. Not all high danger chances are the same and NYR could probably benefit from not giving up breakaways and point blank shots, but team aside, he's got no confidence in net. His body language screams "I'm not over the first goal that went in to prepare myself for the next shot."

he's been mediocre at best this year and is very much living off his 21-22 reputation atm

goalies all around the league suck now but this guy goes from dominant to completely useless in seconds.

Every starter is ass this year (or has been at some point during the season) minus Hellebyuck

The fact that Talbot and Daccord are in the Vezina convo tells you everything
