Trading for Cooper could have a big time impact on this season. I don't think we beat KC without him, and with Coleman and Kincaid out- we'd be counting on Shakir to do a ton of heavy lifting if not for Cooper. Honestly, could be the difference between the #1 or #2 seed and the 3rd or 4th seed.

Man, the piling on of the 49ers this week has been brutal.

Part of me knows that McDermott has always prepared the team coming off the bye well.

Park of me knows that the Bills have an advantage on the beat up 49ers defense.

I simply hate seeing the takes as so one sided about a game, especially given that we don't have that veteran leadership core anymore. I'm worried that over a long season, we might have to relearn some lessons the previous team learned well.

The Bills could play the underdog card part of the season, and then 'us vs the Champs' last week.

Taking a step back 3 weeks, I think you could argue that they were outplayed by Miami and still won. That if not for Flacco being awful, the Indy game would have been much different. Feels like we are due for a game that by all metrics we should win, we lose.

49ers LB Warner playing with fractured ankle

49ers linebacker Fred Warner revealed for the first time Wednesday that he has been playing through a fractured bone in his ankle that he sustained in a Sept. 29 win against the Patriots.

That means when the Niners meet the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night, Warner will be playing his eighth consecutive game with the ankle injury.

"It's something I deal with every game," Warner said. "I get on that table before every game and get it shot up every single game just to be able to roll. But it's not an excuse. It's just what it is. That's the NFL. You're not going to be healthy. You've got to go out there, you've got to find ways to execute, to play at a high level and to win every single week."

I played a game with a fractured ankle in high school, swelled up so bad after had to cut my shoe off. Casted at 2 a.m that night, went to Bills/Pats game on crutches (The Roland Hooks Hail Mary catch) at 9 am next day! Dad let me get blasted in the parking lot after, mum was not very happy with both of us when we got home

Listening to Bruglers pod on the athletic and gosh it sounds like a bad first round draft, especially for top end talent and certain positions. One thing that really stuck out is him saying the top OT this year (who might have to move to guard) might not have been a top 7 OT last year and probably shouldn’t have a first round grade. Very rough year for the position and I’m really glad we have both ours locked up.

Yeah, I'm reading a lot of the same. Hell, when an RB is being talked about as a possible top 10 pick.....you KNOW it's a bad first round. Double hell, there's a safety also being talked about as a possible top 10 pick.

It does also seem like the back end of the first round is where a lot of the interior D-linemen are kind of pegged, so that seems to mesh nicely with our likely needs.

Yeah, it seems like RB is a position you generally need to just have a steady stream of guys on rookie deals. I love Cook, but his days in Buffalo are probably numbered.

Yeah, you and I seem to fall in love with safeties like Hamilton, Branch and (now) Starks. I didn't love one last year, but did like a few and Bishop was one of them. Pairing Bishop with Starks would give us 10-15 years of a new-and-improved version of Hyde and Poyer. But you're absolutely right that we'd need a rather major trade up to go get him.

And I'm beginning to see RB much like goalie in the NHL -- at minimum, take one every other year. I think you're right that we're going to need to let Cook walk as he's just going to cost too much to re-sign. Hell, Ty Johnson might be pricing himself out of Buffalo this offseason -- dude is a very good 3rd down back and might get a contract offer too rich for us.
