Will fix everything
A few thoughts:

Jordan Phillips could simply be wishcasting at this point

I wouldn't be shocked if he was signed to the PS Squad rather than the NFL roster.

I think one roster spot goes to Eli Ankou

The other may depend on what is going on with KC's hand.

Man, was really hoping they'd beef up the D line a bit, but maybe there was nothing available. I don't foresee this defense being good enough to stop Baltimore or the Chiefs running game. Hopefully, I'm proven wrong. Meh...even if proven right, this was a retool year anyways, and there's a lot to be excited about going forward.

Agreed on all points and would add: if the offense would stop shitting out early duds, this wouldn't worry me as much. Especially with Milano back, the D is plenty capable of making some stops against those teams. But if we can't score and they get to just keep trying, this defense will never stop the run for long enough.

And to reiterate, I'm fine with this. It's a retool year where something wild COULD happen, but mostly I just want to keep the core intact and reload for the true second window ('25-28ish).

With next to no cap space, I wasn't expecting any of the hopium trades to happen.

Plus, regardless of what some fans and media want, Beane is not going to empty the draft capital. He knows that they need premium picks to draft quality players on rookie deals given that they are in the big money QB era of team building.

Plus, to think he would go overboard in trading away picks in a year where they have over $60M in cap space eaten up by dead cap....

I'm okay with them not going all in and wasting the 1st round capital from this year's draft, in a year that we are kind of in the process of changing some of the old guard over. In a year where we're not really looking to be Super Bowl contenders, I'm okay holding off. I'm hoping going forward we look to add some beef and speed to the team because they need it.

Well, at least they're trying to add depth. I was hoping for a run stuffer as they're usually pretty cheap, but maybe there weren't any available for a late day pick swap.

At LB, let's just hope Milano can get healthy and be a sizeable upgrade over Williams, which certainly isn't guaranteed.
Williams wasn't great against the Dolphins on Sunday. But, he has been way better than I expected based off of the small sample size of his rookie year.

Of all the areas of concern that I had, LB was way down the list.

The LB play has been OK especially if you figure that they have had 0 snaps with Bernard and Milano playing together and multiple games where you had MLB2 & WLB2 out there.

They seem to like/prefer players familiar with their scheme. As for Safety perhaps they are comfortable with Cine and Jackson on the practice squad if needed.

They certainly do like players with scheme familiarity, especially when bringing them in midseason.

And I wonder if their thought at D-line was that we're not generating ANY push in the middle if it's not coming from Oliver......and if there's one thing we know Phillips can do, it's provide a push in the middle. Same as Jefferson to an extent. Just get a push in the middle, make the RB avoid the push and then hope the LBs/safeties can get off a block and fill in behind.

And at safety -- I do wonder if they sign Cine or Jackson to the 53-man now.
