Hughes and JT are co-best players.

While the head to head mighr mean zilch I think it's absolutely ridiculous how this series is being perceived.

Going into the payoffs Vancouver has been the best defensive team in the league for almost three months and it had nothing to to do with goaltending.

#1 in high danger shots allowed.
#1 in rush chances,
#1 in slot chances, #1 in shot suppression and it's exactly why we didn't skip a beat with losing multiple goalies

Everyone shits on the press but
For almost half a season they were the top team in a bunch of stuff including wins.
They finished 9th in GF but ahead of both Van and Edmonton since Feb, dido on the pp, yet every single oiler fan has said Nashville sucks and Vancouver played poorly when the reality is even with a huge penalty discrepancy the nucks defense gave them nothing.
Nashville also did a hell of a job defensively as well.

We are a better and deeper team 5on5 the oilers are the better pp team. However head to head it was Vancouver by a mile and it's not like the oilers pp was bad at the time, they just were atrocious on the pk where nucks were like 45%. Even if we take 20% off to be realistic that puts them pretty even which in that case turns this series into a 5on5 battle.

Lots of scenarios in this series can easily paint Vancouver in a positive light but everyone just wants to focus on the oilers dismantling the kings in 5 because they went 50% on the pp which isn't going to happen with how are pk just throttled a pp that coming in was hotter than the oilers.

End of the he say the oilers kings were pretty much even at evens.

Wednesday can't come soon enough and that's one thing we can all agree on.
I agree with you that the odds are inaccurate and distorted. All things considered I would have the oilers as slight favourites but not to the extent of what we're seeing. I expect the series to go 6 or 7 games.

Seriously people?

Over 2,300 posts in before game one just sh!t talking and conjecture?

Holy jees...go take a walk, hug someone, say Hi to a stranger or something. It's just a game...

...and I hope the Canucks rain holy hellfire and molten piss and covid and 1970's MSG before it was proven to be safe and OJ Simpsons white Bronco's and Brady's deflated footballs over the shitbag Oilers and all of their fans.

Other than that, I hope that everyone stays safe, everyone understands it's just a game and let the best team win.
2300 posts is mere foreplay….this is Canadian hockey after all.

That’s a whole lot of excuses when you could have just said the Canucks swept the series. Canucks had injuries too but that’s hockey. And as for the Oilers being a tire fire a lot of the credit goes to the Canucks.
Now that's an interesting take. Well, not so much interesting as hilarious really. Games from October don't matter in May, it doesn't matter how you try to spin it.

Talk about the teams, players and series, not the fans or posters. You're just going to end up getting booted.

Having watched my share of floppers on the Canucks, he's not one of them, he's just bambi on skates.
Fair enough lol. Taylor Hall was also like that in the early days (can’t confirm or deny now, as I have watched probably 2 minutes of games he’s played in recently lol)

Some of the true divers in the NHL are incredibly annoying.

Sometimes, when people are on skate blade edges they literally do go down easily unintentionally. In those cases, it’s not their fault the ref calls it those times.

If the Canucks score a couple of quick ones to start the game, the 4 regular season games (that apparently only count when you need to dig up stats for your benefit) will take up residence in the Oilers' heads.....hilarious if it happens....playin' with House money....
I don't think the Oilers are as fragile as that. I don't think any NHL teams are as fragile as that actually, this isn't pee wee,

Will Hughes be invisible again or do the Oilers not have the forecheck to keep him playing scared? Hard to believe this little kid gets mentioned in the same sentence as Cale Makar.

It's hard to believe for some but it is true, he has elevated his game. Why you believe he was invisible or playing scared, I'm unsure, since that is not the player I saw. But I guess you see what you want to see.

Oilers have had solid comebacks all season after their bad start.

He gets mentioned in the same sentence because he was the best D in the league this year.
Maybe West coast games are past your bedtime or you had homework to do?
Now get back under your bridge.

He had some nice offensive zone sequences that led to nothing. He had some really bad defensive zone sequences that led to scoring chances against.

Not once has he taken over the game like Makar has in the Winnipeg series. Kid is a cute little offense zone dman but he is not much more than that.

Not what I saw. Predators played a stifling style and the only defenseman that could push through them consistently was Hughes. It was his plays in the offensive zone, like against Nyquist, that led to comebacks for the Canucks.

In the defensive zone, he was excellent at zone exits and transitions. Again, you see what you want to see, but the numbers throughout the season and this playoffs back this up.

I usually like your posts Orca but you are wrong saying best D in the league. That is your west coast Nucks homer blood talking. You have to be more than a kid that gets a full 2 minutes of PP time and feasts on assists from a very good PP unit to be considered best D in the league.

He was objectively the best defenceman this year, hence the Norris. Decent bait posts though

Well the Norris voters will agree with me that he’s the best. And every advanced stat has him well ahead of Makar this year. Even most Colorado fans concede that. He captained a non playoff team to first in the Pacific and was the best player on the team.
I will take some solace in that over an anonymous poster on the internet.
Maybe your player evaluation skills could use some brushing up?

I can’t believe I’m saying this
Compare to the recent social media battles on Twitter, HFboard suddenly look a lot more sane and calm. Everyone on Twitter is acting like a 5 years old

Who gives a f*** that a kid shouted “f*** oilers player” individually

Who cares that a group of Canucks fans chanting “f*** the oilers”

Who cares that fan are mad at Boston Pizza?

Who cares that Ryan Whitney is engagement baits?

HOLY f***ING SHIT, IT’S SPORTS, PASSION AND HATRED ARE SUPPOSE TO BE A PART OF IT
Mods doing a good job keeping the discussion somewhat civil, a few posters have also gone M.I.A which has helped.

It's odd how quickly that you guys use that as an excuse. It's basically admitting that without him you can't win, with 1st place on the line, against a goalie who had a sub 900sv%
Even knob and Spec made that excuse. This is the first playoffs I've paid attention to the oilers and I gotta say from the fans to the coaches to the reporters.

All oiler fans reading this. Go on YouTube watch the nucks in their media scrums as well as the oilers, what a massive difference from the coach down to the captain and everyone in between.
A blowout in game 1 just might break them all over again,
Yeah nothing at all like Tocchet trying to set up the ref excuse in his previous series exit interview. Couldn't even wait until actual next series interviews started lmfao.
