Storylines are all old and done now.

Dallas has an opportunity to straight up be the better team and finish off this series which they deservingly have a strangle hold on.

Colorado’s star players will have an opportunity to play close to half the game and try to make some damage happen against a team that has appeared to have figured them out.

I don’t care to hear about anyone who is or isn’t playing.

Past 3 games:

Makar - 0 points, -6
MacKinnon - 1 point, -6
Rantanen - 1 point, -5

Combined - 2 points, -17

Prediction - next 3 games:

Makar - 8 points + 8, 1 GWG
MacKinnon 9 points +7, 1 GWG
Rantanen - 7 points + 7, 1 GWG
Don't be naive! It's Nuke's departure that killed their chances.

Hintz out tonight. Tanev is in

Hintz cancels out Nichushkin being out now. No excuses for the Avs

Stars need a win tonight, cause they claim Hintz is day to day but I don't believe that for a second

Roope being out will hurt but they should still be able to get the job done tonight. Here’s to a good game.

LOL no he doesn't. Hintz, from what I've been told by a close Stars friend of mine, hasn't been all that right in this playoff.

Nichushkin was leading the playoffs in goals. The two at this moment in time were not the same.

Now, Nichushkin being out isn't an excuse for the Avs, because even when he was in the whole team was playing quite poorly. They simply have not been good enough at all, save for period 2 of Game 1, and the opening of Game 3. Outside of that, they just have straight-up been not good enough at all.

Nahh not that I think it's an excuse losing Nuke yet again but he's much more important than Hintz IMO. Can't speak on Hintz behalf on Dallas but Nuke and Lehkonen have been our best players in the playoffs. He has the same amount of goals as Rantanen, Mackinnon and Makar combined while being our best forechecker. It's a much bigger loss than some are willing to admit.

No way is this series over. Avs big players could still deliver. Stars need to play like it's an elimination game for them as I'm sure the Avs will. Just needs a couple of slip ups to be punished by the likes of Mack so the total team game the Stars have been playing is required.

Although Val has out produced Hintz this post season, losing your number 1 C who is heavily relied upon on both the PP and PK, while also tasked with playing against the top lines against the VGK/COL is a big loss regardless.

Also given Hintz’ track record, he could turn it around at any point and it looked like he was finding his mojo again after his 4 point night a couple games ago.

To say it’s the same is not a stretch at all.

Eh, Stars lose their #1C. They also lose one of their only good skaters in the process as well as one of their best defensive forwards and best playoff performers. It's a big loss. Now we have to probably watch Pavelski go out there against MacKinnon/Makar even more. Hintz was looking much better in this series than the last

Nichushkin is a big loss as well, but the Avs superstars can still do their thing without him. Especially now that they got Drouin back.

In the end, one team is down a 1C and the other is down a top line winger.

Not to mention Hintz was outscoring Nichushkin in this series anyways

This graphic went up on the TV after the Avs went up 3-1 on the Jets in Round 1: it said something along the lines of 90% (give or take a percentage point) of the teams who go up 3-1 in a Best of 7 series go on to win that series. So there's a roughly 10% chance those who are down 3-1 can come back and win.

From a purely objective standpoint, your statement of "No way is this series over" is correct. However, after watching the first 4 games of this series, do you really think Dallas won't close it out? Maybe they don't tonight (though I suspect they do), but I have seen absolutely nothing from Colorado that would even begin to indicate that they possess the ability and mental fortitude to claw their way back from this 3-1 deficit.

But, from some of your own fans' mouths, he hasn't been playing like a 1C. In fact, it's been widely rumored that he's got something hampering him, which has impacted him in the playoff. He hasn't been the same as he was last year.

So, again, speaking purely at this time, in terms of players how have had a large impact on their team's success in this playoff, Nichushkin is the larger loss.

And that's all a moot point--even when he was in the lineup, the Avs have straight up not been good enough. They have had no answer for what DeBoer has done to neutralize their primary strength: the speed with which they transition from defense to offense. Once that was taken away, they look like people who've never played before.

it’s unlikely but I get where Blindsummit is coming from. You don’t want to get too confident, especially when you’re playing a team who won it all a couple years ago. At the end of the day the Avs have elite game changers on their team whereas Dallas has deeper depth. Sometimes those elite game changers can go on a tear and change the series in an instant. Especially when they feel like they have nothing to lose now being down 3-1.
