Gunna need an explanation on that one. Last year the Jets had Toffoli and Monahan, and still got beat quite easily by the Avs who also didnt have a goalie.

This year's Avs were much deeper (Nelson & Coyle) and had a legitimate goalie. Meanwhile Winnipeg lost those two 2nd liners and didnt add any upgrades. So in what world can the Jets be considered better than the Avs?
Monohan and Toffoli were bad pickups.
Monohan played good in the regular season for us and then was trash in the playoffs.
Toffoli is the slowest player in the NHL.
The Jets were a better team before those trades.
Guys like Samberg and Perfetti took huge steps this year and we saw the results in a President Trophy winning season.

Their regular season numbers. Avs also lost Rantanen.

I agree the Avs are better on paper but think the jets line up well against Dallas. Jets d took care of business last night without Morrisey so if they get him back early this series that will be a much better d corps vs what the Avs iced. And hellebyuck was locked in last night for OT. If he can return to just an NHL calibre goalie which is possibly considering his regular season, they won't be an easy out.

Voted stars but it's a coin toss. Cheering for the jets.

This is going to be an interesting series. I think the two teams if everyone is healthy are fairly evenly matched.

Dallas has more offensive depth upfront, Winnipeg more depth on defense.

I think this series is going to come down to goaltending. Which of the two goalies plays better.

Just looking at the Names on a team doesn't tell you anything. The Jets are different team this year then last year.

-Our players took the embarrassing show against Colorado to heart and did something about it.

- We have a completely different coaching staff that modified how the team plays at 5 on 5 and completely transformed the teams special teams.

- Both Perfetti and Samberg who didn't see much ice in the playoffs grew to key impact players this year.

So no its not remotely the same team.

If Hellebuyck can go back to playing at least half decent, Jets should win this series pretty comfortably. If he's unable to get his head out of his ass, it'll probably be a 4 or 5 game series win for Dallas.

Dallas in 3 🤦🏼‍♂️

Allrighty then.

Makes me long for the "Everybody Wear White Tonight" promo from the '80s. Can't beat a dancing white banana! (Actually it's Mac Tonight or some such McDonalds promo from back in the day but for the longest time I thought it was a banana. Fast forward to 12 seconds, back left).

From a Jets perspective…

Glass half empty: Barely scraped by the 8 seed in game 7 double OT after miracle comeback. Vezina goalie stinks and key injuries to deal with.

Glass half full: Managed to beat the hottest team in the league in the most physical series
of round 1 despite star goalie playing poorly and injuries to key players.

I’m choosing glass half full but they will need Scheif and/or Morrissey back at some point. The April game against Dallas was a game both teams desperately wanted/needed to win to get home ice and avoid the Avs in round 1 and the Jets looked much better than the Stars in that small sample.

Dallas is a great team though. Key for me is whether the Jets can avoid falling away from their team structure like they did at times in round 1. They were extremely consistent in the regular season sticking to their structure which is why they won the Presidents Trophy.

Hard to say. Jets took 3 out of 4 in the regular season, but have some injuries and questionable goaltending. If Helly plays like he can and injured players come back... I'm saying Jets in 7.

But, if the Jets get the same goaltending as Helly gave them against St.L and Chef and JM don't play, then Dallas in 5 or 6.
