To say Dallas is so much better than St Louis and they are going to destroy the Jets is laughable. St Louis was the hottest team in hockey, remember what happened last time they were the hottest team going into the playoffs? Panthers squeaked in to the playoffs and look what they did. You're in for a surprise if you think Dallas walks all over the Jets. Not taking anything from Dallas as they are a great team but people acting like if we struggled against St Louis, we are screwed vs Dallas. People aren't giving St Louis enough credit. Obviously they don't have the star power but playoffs is more than just having stars.

Between win/loss record, goals for/against/ penalty kill/power play/faceoffs, starting goalie stats, top end player point production, the only advantage I see the Blues have is a 0.01% better PP than Dallas and they gave up 2 shots less per game on average. Pretty much advantage to Dallas in every category.

Now, I agree that Dallas isn't going to destroy the Jets but I think fans are giving Winnipeg that reputation of being an easier out because Hellebuyck has, over the last three runs, shown he can't handle the pressure of high stakes games it seems.

You really have to look at their results from 4 Nations onwards because it paints a much better picture of how they were coming into that series.

19-4-3 (best record in the league in that time)
27.5% PP (6th best in that time)
81.5% PK (7th best in that time)
3.81 goals for (1st)
2.15 goal against (2nd)

They were by far the best 5v5 team in that time frame.

Thomas had 40 points in 26 games, Kyrou/Holloway/Buchnevich were ppg, Fowler was a massive acquisition for them going from 4 points in 17 games with the Ducks to 36 points in 51 games with the Blues including 22 since the break. Binninton was 13-1-1 from the break.

People really aren't giving the Blues enough credit for what they became down the stretch and they are physical and quick as hell. They are going to be a team to watch next year and I think anyone underestimating them is going to be in for a rude awakening.

I think Helle showed he could handle the pressure of a double overtime. We'll see if that was enough to gain his confidence back or if he wilts vs the Stars. But I'm optimistic to start.

This thread is about a playoff series featuring the Winnipeg Jets and Dallas Stars. The series will require at least 4 and at most 7 games to decide who advances the conference finals.

The winner of this series will face either Vegas or Edmonton in the conference finals.

FYI - you got Dallas's seed wrong in the thread title. They're C2.

Obviously wanna win and everything, but seems at a glance the Winnipeg fans will be infinitely easier to deal with than whatever shit the Avs fans were slinging all series. Let’s have a good series northern buddies. Sorry about the whole trade war thing

85,630 in attendance, Dallas popluation is 1.3 million so... 6.5% of the City was at the game. I would guess your opinion is incorrect.
Actually look at the urban/metro population as a market to draw from. You have Irving, Garland, Arlington and especially Fort Worth. It is like one big city. You don’t know where one city ends and another begins. That would be like 6 to 8 million..

Dallas is a very different team then the Blues. I don't expect the same series. If the Jets can play the way the do during the regular season they should clog the game up and frustrate the Stars. If the Stars can draw the Jets into a run and gun style this could be over quick.

Its a contrast of styles that is for sure.

Good luck Dallas. Better luck jets. Let's not start running around shall we. I used to like the blues for f***s sake.

Most of us Jets fans will be super nice, as long as the Stars aren't headhunting our best players lol

Looking forward to some good, physical, CLEAN, skilled playoff hocky. I'm sure things will get heated at some point, I'd be almost disappointed if they didn't... but we'll remain civil-ish
