BigStoryHOME4_zps7858663b.png

Big Game Story: The tables have completely turned and now the 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles KINGS, who dropped the first two games of this series and could hardly buy a goal over the first three games, are in position to eliminate the fragile St. Louis BLUES and win their fifth consecutive round in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Slava Voynov's second game-winning goal in five days, scored eight minutes into overtime of Game 5 on Wednesday night, gave the Kings a 3-2 victory and the WCQF’s Series lead.
KINGS need to remind the BLUES which team won the Stanley Cup Championship. GO KINGS GO !!!

Forward & Team Captain DUSTIN BROWN said:
"He's probably harder this time around because he doesn't want us to rest or think it's going to be easy, partly because we've lost two games and we lost four all last year, I think he's just trying to bring more attention consistently. He knows what we went through last year and everyone understands that, but it's just a matter of refocusing because it's going to be a different postseason this year."
Forward & Alt Captain ANZE KOPITER said:
"It’s great. It’s all we wanted. You want to get this win. You want to have the chance to close it out at home. We all know the fourth one’s going to be the toughest one, but we’re going to have to get ready for it and play our game." ( On the confidence of being able to close the series at home) … “I think we’re playing up to our potential, or closer to our potential than we did in the first two. Even though the first two we had the chance to win them both, we didn’t feel like we were playing very solid hockey. But the last three have been a little bit different, and there are still some areas that we have to clean up, but we feel like we’re getting there. Staples Center has been a good place for us this year. It’s going to be tough. I mean, everybody knows that the fourth one is the toughest one. So we’re going to have to get focused tonight and get ready for tomorrow and just play our game and be on top of our game."
Forward JEFF CARTER said:
"I think as the team plays better, everybody kind of feels better. There’s not many opportunities out there for anybody. It’s real tight, and I think when we’re getting the opportunities we really have to bear down on ‘em. I got a couple gimmes tonight, but it’s still a work in progress. We're comfortable at home, we've been playing some good hockey there. To get back in front of our fans is a huge boost for us. We'll go back and try to win a game."
Goaltender JONATHAN QUICK said:
“It doesn’t mean anything because we’re going home. We’re playing a home game next, so that’s all we’re worrying about."
Defenseman SLAVA VOYNOV said:
"It doesn’t matter. I just play hockey, and I try to help guys with the game."
Head coach DARRYL SUTTER said:
"Both teams check so well. That’s the thing, both teams try and forecheck, and they’ve probably spent more time in our zone than we’d like, but it’s been like that. It’s been a banging series, but it’s also the least penalized series, if you look at it, of the two conferences. So that tells you that both teams – the style they play and the discipline they play, and that’s why it’s a long series, and that’s why I think it’s a good series.” (On whether the team is starting to get “that feeling back”) … “Actually, today I’m tired." (On Robyn Regehr taking a puck to the face) … ““Yeah, he got hit in the nose again. It was broke, so he can’t re-broke it."

[shadow=Silver] LET'S GO KINGS !!! [/shadow]

- UPCOMING WCQF PLAYOFFS SCHEDULE -
2013WCQFScheduleRnd1_zpse953b436.png

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

Must close this thing out. Would rather not see the Blues given a chance to come back and take it away with a Game 7.

im feeling confident. i said this in the PGT the other night but this kings core is very much like the kobe/shaq lakers core in regards to knowing how to win. we have been outplayed for the majority of this series but this team just knows how to get it done

I don't care how it gets done, a GWG goal off of Ellerby's left eyebrow, or Bill Ranford playing goal himself, just win. Do whatever you have to. Don't let this series go back to St. Louis.

Can someone post the possible match up scenario for round 2?

A couple of interesting stats:

If the Kings win:

1. It will be the first defending champ to win a first round series since the Penguins did it in 2010 (three seasons).

2. It will be the first Kings team to win five playoff series in a row (extending their own record of first Kings team to win four series in a row from last season).

That is the same sentiment echoed by the players. The words from Brown (below) are the same I have heard Penner, Scuds, Richards and Carter say on different interviews with different networks. You can't help but feel and see that this group is very very close and totally believe in each other; they work hard every shift for the guy next to them. And even last year, during their low moments in the winter when media and fans doubted, they never did. That faith in each other is a powerful thing.
And it also helps to have such a solid, talented top 5, Kopi, Brown, Carter, Williams and Richards who have shown that they have the will to overcome and a never say die attitude.

Brown:

''Our mood hasn't really changed from Game 1 to now,'' Brown said. ''Everyone understands. We went through it last year. ... I think that feeling has never really left. We got down 0-2, but our confidence as a group and our belief system as a group has never really faltered. Being down 0-2, it's one of those things you have to deal with, and we have the type of guys in here that can deal with adversity and find a way to get the job done.''

That 'finding a way to get the job done' is something that I think can be tied to them winning is all last year. There is something that come sfrom being a champion and the feeling of confidence that it gives you. They've shown that.
