Stanley Cup Playoffs - Round 1, Game 2

Shawn Spencer: [bursts into the SBPD office] Gus, I'm sensing something. I'm sensing... ice. And sticks. And a bunch of dudes with missing teeth.
Gus: That's just hockey, Shawn.
Shawn: No, no. I'm sensing something more specific. [puts hand to temple] The spirits are telling me that tonight, MacKinnon is going to dangle through the entire Stars team like they're standing still. And Nuke? The spirits say he's going to score so many goals, they'll need to check his stick for actual magic.
Gus: You can't just make predictions like that, Shawn.
Shawn: I've heard it both ways.
Lassiter: [walks in wearing Stars gear] Spencer, what are you doing here?
Shawn: The real question, Lassie, is what are YOU doing in Stars apparel? That's the real crime here.
Lassiter: I appreciate defensive structure and disciplined systems. The Stars play proper hockey.
Shawn: [gasps dramatically] You take that back! The Avs play hockey the way pineapples taste. Sweet, tangy, and impossible to resist.
Gus: You know that's right.
Shawn: The Stars have about as much chance tonight as Pluto has of being reinstated as a planet.
Gus: [looking genuinely hurt] Shawn, you know that's still a sore subject for me. Pluto was done dirty. That's messed up.

Game Info

When: 7:30 PM MT
Where: American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX
TV: ESPN, ALT2, Victory+

Keys to the Game

Shawn: [still with hand to temple] I'm sensing the Avs need to do three things to win tonight:
  1. I'm seeing... a man with a C on his chest... he needs to be in tonight! The spirits say if Landy plays, Dallas doesn't stand a chance.
  2. Wait, wait, I'm getting something else... a wall. A wall made of... pads and a glove? Blackwood needs to channel his inner Patty Roy and be absolutely unflappable.
  3. And finally... power! Power... play! Yes! The Avs' power play needs to be more effective than Gus's Super Sniffer.
Gus: Shawn, that's not how any of this works.
Shawn: I've heard it both ways.

Pre-Game Psych-Out

Shawn: [addressing the Stars through the locker room door] Hey Dallas! You know what they say about Stars? They're just big balls of hot air! And they're millions of miles away! Just like your chances of winning tonight!
Gus: [pulling Shawn away] That doesn't even make sense, Shawn!
Shawn: It doesn't have to make sense, Gus. It just has to be in their heads!

GDT Music

Looks like Landy could draw in tonight. Hopefully they can get him a W. Could be pretty bad for the psyche to lose an important game like this as well as it being the caps return game. The Avs have always been a team that rides highs and wollow in lows.

If I'm Bednar, I'm holding onto that Landeskog emotion pump for game 3 at home.

The Avs already stole home ice and, even without Colton, have a very good shot at going up 2-0.

That said, the Stars very much cannot lose this game. It's not a must-win, exactly, but losing this one makes for one hell of a steep hill to climb going to Denver and the Altitude.

I expect we see the best version of Jake Oettinger tonight.

The only people who think pineapple on pizzas are bad are flat earthers…. And weirdos who think Sunday is the start of the week.

I'm neither of those things and I still think pineapple has no place on a pizza.

Damn near any other regular topping, save for anchovies, and I'm on board but pineapple? I dunno, something about warm fruit on pizza just doesn't do it for me. :dunno:

That said, I still won't judge the many who seem to enjoy it.

It doesn't matter if Landy plays game 2 or not. I am absolutely convinced that Landeskog emotion pump will still be present for game 3 at home.

Play Landy tonight if he is ready.
