Damn it, I have to be at a former groomsman engagement party that starts exactly when game time starts. Pain.

But I thought Bednar didn't want his team to play physically!?!?

Yeah, he does this every year now. Plays the speedy, positional game, during the bulk of the regular season.

Then he changes it up after the deadline, and has them up their physicality, probably as prep for the playoffs, since they haven't played that way all year. Then in the playoffs they up it even higher.

The way this team is built now, with heavy bodies, he's using that as part of his game plan, and it's working.

Avs can impose themselves physically on the Strs and still outskate them. The hitting actually wears them down, and they can outskate them even easier. Especially in a long tries. Hopefully that helps them in Game 7.

Bednar never had issues with his guys playing physical as long as they don't take themselves out of the play making the hit and if it does the player better make sure somebody is covering for him.

Yeah, I don't think he discourages physical play per se, just doesn't want it to be their #1 priority and he sure as hell doesn't like dumb penalties (though he defended Colton and Wood at various times in the regular season a while back when they were guilty of some dumb penalties). It's on the PK where he (AND Pratt) want guys to be less aggressive and hang back to try and block shots.

I wonder if Bednar still likes to be long down the middle. He hasn't talked much about his 2C and 3C so far in that series.

EJ Hradek just mentioned Pete DeBoer being 8-0 in game 7s. Also said DeBoer should wear a big chain that says 8-0

If the Avs lose this series, Bednar choosing to play Miles Wood instead of Landeskog in game 2 is going to be the reason we lost for me.

You can't convince me with the way Landy has been playing for us that he wasn't ready to go in Game 2, and you certainly can't convince me that he would have had an infinitely better impact on the game then Wood who was ultimately directly responsible for the OT Goal.

Landy plays Game 2, we just won the series in 6 games last night.

Eh, I don't even think Landy knew how'd it go.

If Landy knew he'd be able to jump in without missing a beat, I guarantee he would've told Bednar to pencil him into the lineup and Bednar would've done it.

Do not ask Nathan MacKinnon about anything other than the actual hockey game.

You would think the media would’ve learned by now.

Yeah I said while watching that, I'd have bet it all on Nate saying some version of "I don't care."

You'd get the same answer to any question about a loss, other than what they did wrong.

If anything playing EJ over a healthy and ready Malinski in game 2 was a worse decision and had a bigger negative impact than playing Wood.

That’s the big one for me. I thought Wood played well until the OT goal, but Malinski has been great this series and there was no need to drop EJ in unless someone got injured.

I get that he lost the puck before the goal but Wood doesn’t lose his guy in OT if EJ doesn’t do "that".
